How often do you move to a new house?

When I was a kid, we moved all the time. Not sure why. When I grew up, I continued that pattern for awhile. But, when I had my baby all that changed. I realized that I was going broke every time I moved to a new place. And, the whole process of starting from scratch in a new location was simply counter productive. So, I planted my feet in the dirt, grew roots and refused to budge. Since then, I've weathered bad storms, hurricanes, floods, job loss, near bankruptcy, debt and even a wild streak of bad luck just to stay in one spot. Maybe someone is trying to urge me to move on. What do you think? How often do you move to a new home? What event would inspire you to move to a new state or another home?

I have never moved to a new state. When I was little, we moved into our house when I was 4 yrs old. My mom still lives in that house. When I got married, my husband and I bought a tiny house that we could afford at that time. We then started saving our money because our dream was to build a log home. We then started to have our log home built. We lived in our log home for 14 yrs and just moved to this new home 3 yrs ago. We decided to build this house because it is bigger then our log home. It has 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths and a daycare room for me to do my daycare in. WE have 4 children and needed the additional space. We would have never even considered moving out of the town that we live in now because both of our entire families are living here. We feel that it is important for our children to be close to their relatives.

My dream house is a log cabin, is it any different living wise than a regular home?

The log cabin was harder to maintain. My husband had to stain the outside of the logs almost every year to keep them from getting gross looking. the inside of the house was just like any other. Before we moved in, we put polyurithain on all the walls to keep them looking nice.

i never like to move house unless if it is necessary... the trouble, hassle, money and time that i have to waste everytime i move house is not worth it... and it is a very tiring job as well... i can live for as long as it allows me in one place until i am forced to move... my parents also don't like to move house... we always stay in one place for a minimum of 10 years...

Well i never have moved during my childhood. I was lucky to be in the same place until i started my graduation course for which i had to stay in a hostel. Now i'm working and back to my home!! But i feel you need to switch to a new house when you need to have a proper living like the ones demanded by your job or for the health of your loved ones and stuff changing your place is not that bad!!

I moved out when I was seventeen, and moved several times, but always right around where I grew up. It was just from one town to the next whenever my lease ran out. Then my husband and I got married and I moved 1100 miles to his duty station. We lived in base housing for the first two years, and then bought this house off base. We plan on staying here until it's time for him to move on to his next station. The event that makes us move to another state or another home will be getting stationed somehwere else, or getting out of the Air Force.

Hubby and I have been together 8 years and we have moved 6 times in that 8 years. Once a year except one house where we lived for 2 years and the apartment we live in now where we've been for a year and a half. I am so happy to be settled. actually I never had experienced to move to a new house. but my mom once told us that before when our parents don't have us yet they also keep on moving out but when the time came that my mom got pregnant and she gave birth to my older sis my parents finally decided to stay and live in one place and that is in our house today. So I think its been 17 years now that they're living here and I dont think that my parents have any plans of moving in to a new house.

First time we moved from New Zealand to Samoa was for a change of lifestyle. We both were in a rut and decided to take the leap and move to Samoa. After six good years, my husbands job brought us here to the US. We are enjoying our life here so far.

I moved when I was 2 years old from my family's bungalow to a larger house. My parents bought a home with a wild looking garden. It took ages for my dad to make the garden safe and attractive. I moved again when I was 16 years old to college, going home at the weekends. I moved again into my own small terraced cottage when I was 19. I left it to go off traveling and studying again at a far away university. Then I returned to it, staying there until I was 33 years old. So I had that home for 14 years. I sold that and bought my current home two years ago. I would move if my mum or sister did to another area or there was a disaster that I wanted to forget about. The grass is always greener is a saying in my country. perhaps you keep moving in order to find somewhere you are really happy, without any natural disasters or bad luck. Good luck in one day finding your ideal home.

I've only moved twice. The first time we moved house, I can't even remember because I was only like 3 years old. The second time I moved was 2 years ago, moved from our previous house to our current house. Coz my dad bought a new house at another area, so no choice had to move house hehe.

I used to live in an apartment when I was younger, then we moved to the house I live in now. We're looking to buy a home now, so for me It's actually every 11 years or so.

Since I was born more than 3 decades ago, me and my family moved five times already. But now, we are living in our permanent houses. Since i laready have a family of my own, and my husband already bought our own house, there is no more reason for us to transfer house again.

Well moving is not that easy. After my college gradution i worked with my alma mater as Ao so i decided to looked for a place (apartment) for me to be able to reached my work as early as possible. It came to the point that i am not happy with my work anymore so i decided to move again. After i resigned, i moved to Pasig and lived with my officemates, unfortunately i felt that i am not happy living with other people. So i decided to moved again, i moved to an apartment near my workplace, suddenly my landlady adjust the monthly payment and increase it to almost 100% so i decided to moved again. I called my mom and told me to lived with my tita, i went there after a month i deicided to move again. Now i live in a cute apartment a stone away from my work place and so far i didnt encounter any problems ahahaha! ^_^

Well let's see I've moved 5 times in 12 years, 4 of those in the past 3 1/2 years. I divorced and moved to another city, where I lived in an apartment, at the end of the lease I moved to another apartment (rent was less). After living in the second apartment for 8 months I moved 1600 miles ( met a wonderful man and him moving was not an option due to his career). We lived in his house for a little over a year before moving to a bigger house, due to the addition of a dog, we needed more room, and his daughter comes to stay with us, and my oldest daughter comes from out of state to visit, so we needed more than a 2 bedroom house. We are thinking about the possibility of trying to buy the house we are leasing now, however, we still have some discussing to do, he'll be taking early retirement next year, but will be finding some type of job just to keep him busy, and my job is one in which I can get a transfer if requested. So we may or may not be moving in a year.
