star on top of the user name, what does it means?

i saw some of the user has a star on top of the user name, there also has number such as 8 or 9 on it, the color is different also, what does it means? how can i get one?

These stars will be your rating, but you have to reach 100 posts first to get a star. They are based on your performance here, your activity and the quality of posts you make. The colors are just there to help us distinguish what rank we have on our stars, 1 is the lowest star one can get and 10 is the highest.

i saw someone had only 2 on there star. does it means their repution is really bad? how does the mylot measure repution? if the discussion has a lot people response, the person will have high star number?
