i actually dont know what happened to my old undies when i was still a kid. ^__^;; i dont ask my mother about it because as long as i have something to wear, im fine. LOL but now, im a grown up, at least i think i do, LOL and i organize my own things and clothes, i keep my old undies hidden. LOL i keep them in a drawer because i dont know what to do with them! its kind of embarassing to throw them away. ^__^;; should i make them into a personalized pillow?? LOL or rags? ew. haha.. so what about you? what happened to your old and worn out undies? what did you do to them? ^__^

Traditionally I was taught not to dispose woman’s underwear openly. According to the ancient believing if someone were to take and use it, say, use it to wipe something dirty like dung and sputum, then this will bring luck to the owner of the underwear. Of course scientifically the believing is not logical but psychological it does have great influence in our society. So this is a great problem to deal with this used stuff. When young I did take it seriously and kept them in the closet. But now I do not bother much about this and I simply wrap them with garbage bag and dispose them as usual.

LOL there was a superstition like that?? all i was told before was don't let my undies lay around anywhere coz eggs of insects might get on it and if i wear it again, i'll be pregnant with insect babies! ^__^;; of course i didn't believe it even if i was young then.

I just throw them out in the trash. I will kinda hide them in between other things so the garbage man can't see (we have to use clear bags). By the time I am done with my old undies they are not fit for anything but the trash. LOL

HA HA HA HA HA...nice topic, secretbear! I think when I was still a kid, my mother used them as rags or gave them away to the poor. I don't have any bad undies yet 'coz I bought brand new ones to Finland about 8 months ago, but I THINK I'm going to use them as rags later on he he he he he...

Morning secret bear. It is an interesting discussion of yours. Well I think that you can use them as rags while you are doing some cleaning job at home, which is very useful and what is the most important is that it is still reused to its fullest and good to the raw materials which are becoming fewer and fewer. I hope that you will fully use of them without putting them in the wardrobe, which is a kind of waste.

If you have some fancy one, a pillow would be cute! I cut the cotton ones up in little 3" squares and use them for wiping the paintbrush when I'm oil painting. For watercolor brushes, I just use a tissue, but there are never enough nice soft rags for oil colors. I just save the softest part and throw the rest away. It would be funny to imagine what neighbors might think if they went through your trash and found cut up undies. I caught a neighbor going through our trash once! She made up some lie about having accidentally thrown away a card she had meant to keep. Yeah, right, this is the same woman who used to take my clothes out of the dryer before they were done so she could dry her own clothes free on my dime! One time I caught her folding my undies! I was astonished. I had to wash them all over again, as I didn't want her fingerprints on my clothes. I asked what are you doing with my undies and she said they were "dry enough!" The condo building where we lived then had 8 families and we shared a huge laundry room off to the side. Not any longer! The next day hubby and I went and bought a washer/dryer and had them installed in the corner of our bathroom. It made it kind of cramped, but nobody would put their hands on our clean laundry any more.

LOL i wish i had read this first before giving out the best response. ^__^;; that's a really new thing for me drannhh, using your undies to wipe your paintbrush. i couldn't have thought of it! LOL and yeah, i wouldn't want a neighbor to touch my undies too! its kinda like gross. ^.^;; i would have washed them again too if someone from the neighbor touched them. and deducting taxes from undies given to charity?? who was that president??

Well, here is a hint: It is the one whose wife is now busily campaigning in her own bid for the White House. I still like the fancy pillow idea best! When I was a college kid we used to have these things called panty-raids where the boys stood down below the girl's dormitory and some of the girls threw their undies out the windows for them to catch. I never did that, but noticed that some of the ones thrown out were quite fancy. When I was a starving student, I couldn't afford that sort of extravagance.

I'm not THAT clever! No thanks, as I only use my own for paint rags, not anybody else's. What I meant, actually, was quite literal. Since you have not replied to any discussion I tried to start on the subject of sewing, I naturally assumed that you didn't know how to sew, and therefore I deduced that you must be kidding. But do take a look at some of the other replies that follow! Don't you remember something about a former president who shall remain unnamed for the moment taking a tax deduction for undies that were reported as having been donated to charity?

I usually tear them up and make them into a duster (yes, kinda like a little pillow)and then throw it away later. What do you plan to do with your collected old undies? I wouldn't pass them on to anyone..then what's the point of holding on to them?

yes, it is unhygienic to pass it on to someone else. Throw it in the trash if you don't want to make a duster. No one's going to know.

LOL im not going to pass them to anyone! there wouldn't be anyone who would accept it and i think it's very unhygienic to pass them to another person. ^__^;; i think i'll consider tearing them apart and make it a duster. ^__^;;

Why should it be embarassing to throw away? It's not like someone is checking out your garbage... Anyway, I throw away my old underwear, or if it's winter, I burn it in my stove.

I don't throw out my undies until they actually have holes in them! it is really nice for a woman to put on lovely new underwear but at the same time, they're there to cover your butt! Seriously. Also, it's good to keep old underwear for 'that time of the month'. I find it hard to throw away old undies sometimes because I grow attached to some of them. I always buy Bonds undies and I find that they last a long time.

I throw them away as it is a guy thing but my wife buys a better brand of ladies underwear and she sends them to the Philppines...jockey is a good brand and once she was visiting her sister ner nephew was in the room and he was wearing her jockey underwear as his mother could not wear them...she had a great laugh... when louella goes to the philippines she sends a lot of clothes to her relatives and even the guys ..like son in laws of our neices whear the flip flots, sandals..etc..In japan a lot o japanese men wore women's slippers..lol...smaller feet.. in japan there is three sinzes of Propolastics..small, medium and emperor..but in the US i only see one kind..men here would be most embarrassed to ask for small johny rubber..(safeP) ..we used to buy a geneeric brand..all in white box..this was for cheap (f#*$ers) lol

that's also what we do within the family. everything that can be use again, may it be clothes, toys, baby stuffs, are used again. I have a cousin who always "digs" in our old stuff boxes just to see if there is something she can use or give to her children and hubby. she also just takes whatever she see lying around in our house and she would say "nobody's using this anyway" or "you can a new one of this" and its really annoying sometimes because most of the times there comes a time that we want to use it again.
