Are you a fickle minded or decisive person?

Hello there. I am beginning to hate myself. I really hate myself for being a fickle minded person. I take ages to make simple decisions like 'what to eat for dinner', 'what to wear to work' and etc. This has wasted much of my time and I am getting irritated by my own fickleness. When it comes to making bigger decisions, I take an even longer time to decide. The good thing is the decision I make is not a rash one. This means that I've truly considered all aspects before committing or deciding. Despite saying that, I still wish for myself to be more decisive. I think that will help me be more efficient and effective. Any advice for that? By the way, are you a fickle minded or decisive person? Why do you think so?

hmm... I thought fickle mindedness should be defined as someone who is always changing his/her mind when it comes to making decisions about certain things. When it comes to making big decisions, it is good that you are always taking a longer time to consider the various outcomes before committing to one decision. That way, you know for sure what you want and what you are expecting to get from that decision. I think all of us are guilty of fickle mindedness as some point in our lives. Especially those that you mentioned... 'what to eat for dinner', 'what to wear to work' and etc. It is a waste of time, especially when you have to make the decision to get things going. But sometimes, it cannot be helped. Like for example, last night, a part of me wanted to eat pizza, another part wanted to eat the hot pot at the coffee shop in avenue 10, and another part of me wanted to eat western food at some coffee shop in Serangoon. After half an hour of deliberation, I still could not come up with a place to eat, so I went home to cook. But when it comes to work, and I have all the facts laid out in front of me, then I know for sure what is the next step and what I would be expecting from that step. Then I will systematically go through the steps to get the task at hand done. No two ways about it. Just make sure that you have the facts for the decision to be made at hand and it will help you in making a quick accurate decision faster. ;)

Yes. I fit into the definition. I find it very difficult to make up my mind on certain issues. I always give myself too many options. All the options seem good and I find it difficult to set my mind on an option (finalized decision). Sigh.. I often have the same problem with you. I find it so hard to decide what to eat. This often frustrates my friends and family members. =P It's easier to be decisive when it comes to work as usually a system has been laid out for us and we just need to follow through the system. Thanks for responding =D

Haha. I am similar to you. However, many times, I do not know what I want and that's when I get very fickle minded and find it very difficult to make a final decision. Thanks for sharing. =D

Decisive!!! yeah, i easily can decide on things i do! :P A little advice would be, "Look into things in a simple way, don't think too hard, and be POSITIVE!" Hope it helps! Good day!

nice question again! i take my decisions very quickly, my theory is that you should do your homework and leave the rest to your intuitions. Of course there will be errors in my decisions but even if i give more time for such decisions the same errors might still be there, so why bother to give lot of time for thinking and have the same margin of error? All my decisions have a margin of error and that margin is so low that its better than giving lot of time for each decisions. hope you got the point? so you could say i'm a decisive person.

Very true indeed. Sometimes, even after much consideration and deliberation, the decision might still be wrong. I guess the important thing is not whether the decision is right or wrong, rather it is whether we learn from the outcome of our decision. Personally, I feel that I cannot rely on my intuition and judgment to make decisions. How I wish I can be more wise and be able to rely on my judgment to make decisions. Thanks for sharing. =D

Most women they say are fickle minded. They can't decide and/or always change decisions. As a working mother who always rush for things to be done at home since I have children to attend to besides the household matters, I always see to it, decide and prepare ahead. For example, I already prepare at night the clothes I will wear to office or any places that I will go to the next day. I decide ahead what to prepare for dinner or other meals. I checked what's in the ref to know what to cook for the coming meals. Also I prepare the ingredients (e.g. peeling the potatoes, slicing the tomatoes or onions etc) and put out the meat in the freezer at night. I asked my children what they need in school the next day or other days ahead. When it comes to some major decisions, I always consult my husband and we weigh things together before we come up with a common decision. But oftentimes my husband is more indecisive than myself. We already have decided on certain matter the night before, and when morning comes, he will suddenly not forego such matter/things we have agreed. And I don't like that because I have already made up my mind and set other things/matters just to suit on what we have decided.

I guess I'm surely one of those decisive people, I stick to my decision as long as I know the result would be for good. The only thing I hate about this is, I anticipate too much and expect the thought I have in my mind to actually happen. But I have learned to accept it somehow, but not totally. It's really hard to change decisions, especially when the changes are done later. I would definitely think much about it deeper, then picture the possible things that would happen and enforce the final decision by hook or by crook!;)

I am both. When it comes to things like what to cook or what to wear, like you said, it takes me forever to make a final decision. However, when it comes to really important things, I am very decisive. Makes me kinda weird I guess, but that's me! lol My husband puts up with me, so I guess I can't be that bad.

Sometimes, I'm decisive. Sometimes, I'm fickle-minded, too. It really depends on the matter to be decided upon. Further, I know that sometimes, even if I have already made up my mind; I don't have the final word because as I'm already a married person, I still have to consider my husband's decision or views on the matter at hand. I guess being fickle-minded relates more with being feminine. But this doesn't really mean that you are weak if you're a fickle-minded person. Maybe it will help if you're not going to be hard on yourself. Learn to accept that anyone could be fickle-minded on certain issues.

Hello poohgal, iam not afickle minded person at all. I always take pre-decision about what to wear, where to eat. Iam down to earth person. I never wanted to show some thing which Iam not, so never wants to show off. Iam happy as Iam , But I always ready to learn new ideas. I can take bigger decisions at once, Though it takes time but when I take decision I will go for it.As i use to calculate the after affects of my decisions.

Well cant say really. Mostly for simply things i dont really think.. like what dress i should wear or wht meal has to be prepared. I just make wht comes to mind. Big decisions well... i do think before i do anything. Mostly if fell its good to go with i'll go ahead. I just jugde on the basis of how the facts are laid down for the corresponding issue. Maybe i'm a bit of both...

I think in most cases,I'm decisive. When it really comes to the time that I should make the decision for the big issue,I'll be decisive. But when I'm not ready to decide or I'm still considering about it,then I'm not decisive. For daily life, like what to eat, which restaurant to go to,I'm somehow decisive and make decisions quickly.
