Family Bulldog kills 4 year old girl

The favorite pet of the little girl suddenly turned aggressive and attacked her in the throat and killed her. The girl's 6 year old sister ran for the nanny who tried to pry the dogs jaws from the little girl without success. When police arrived, they tried to taser the dog and when that didn't work, they shot it 5 times to get it away from the body of the girl. This is unprecedented. Bulldogs are usually recommended for children! What a horrible thing to happen in your own back yard! http://www.kpho.com/news/14517741/detail.html

I would not own a dog that is dangerous..i was always told that if it has teeth it can bite..I know that bull dogs, chows were not good with children.i had a chow once that bit a friend and i took that dog the same day and had him put down,i really hated to do it but a dog that will bite is no good for nothing...i have a small dog now, shes very small but she will not bite, she will run from children, and if they grab her she will pee but she will not bite..I know some people that have pit bulls and they say the dog is really good but i do not trust them because they are tempamental, and might turn on you..this is really a sad story but i blame the parents for this, they should have known better than to get a bull dog for a pet.If a person does not have children then its fine, but when you have children thats one thing you have to be very careful about..My kids always had a lab or a big ole humble dog that we could depend on at our house...

Sooooooo you have an anklebiter, eh? I grew up with neighbors having a couple of those and they were shot after attacking an adult. Never say your dog will never bite just cause it's small. Some of the smaller dogs are worse than their larger cousins. I had a small dog but got rid of it soon after buying it. Had a pedigree a mile long but it bit not only me but several other ppl so it went to live on a farm where it was killed by the farmer himself cause it attacked several of his friends as well. Training wouldn't work either.

While this is a horrible experience it further goes to show why I do not believe in children being left alone unattended with animals that are larger than themselves. I understand that a family pet teaches responsibility to children. However, it is imperative that the adults around said Child are aware of the nature of animals. Even the most relaxed pet can become aggressive unplanned in the wrong circumstance. I feel for the family however, this child should never have been left alone with this animal if there was potential for the child to be injured. I believe that children under the age of six or seven should be supervised at all times around family pets.

We must be aware of what instinct dog had. Even it is our pet for a long time nobody can tell what they can do. We can't tell to our selves that, ah I know the behavior of my dog, i know what he/she likes or dislikes, well when dog got mad, animal instinct is to bite. We must be responsible also as a pet lover. We must think of safety first. It is ok to have a dog in our house even we have little children but better if we provide a cage first until our children grows up. This is to ensure of their safety from danger of dog bite.

OMG! That is really gruesome. I wonder what had ticked the dog to become that vicious. Anyway, I felt sorry for the parents but then kids should never be left alone with pets such as dogs, python or any of those dangerous animals. Sometimes, kids can do things that could trigger the anger of the animals.

That's just sad. I wonder what provoked the dog to do such a thing. Dogs are usually kind to their owners. Dogs rarely attack owners unless they are threatened but how could a 4 year old threaten a dog? That's really odd.

Is that true? That's too terrible! The poor girl! She's only 4 years old. Then do people take any measures against the bulldog? I think we should really watch out the dogs or cat we have in our house. They're not that safe always.Maybe we should never let the kids stay with the pets alone. So sorry to hear the news. Hopefully such things will never happen again.

my sister in law and her family have a bull dog for a pet. It is caged when we get there. From what I understood they were good dogs as well. Yes, tragic thing to happen....I can't imagine!

How horrible. I feel so badly for the sister and the nanny. They will have to live with those horrid memories all their lives...it's so terribly sad. I wonder why the dog did this. Too sad.

Now they can add bulldogs to the list of 'killer dogs' to be banned/destroyed.

After this weekend, I see just how tolerant pets have to be around children. I wonder what happened to get this dog angry enough to do that. I wonder if he even realized he just killed his best friend.

OMG...That's scary! I feel sad for the girl and the family. Did they do some research on why the dog suddenly turned aggressive and killed the girl? It's weird coz dogs don't bite their family! There must be something wrong. Did it get rabies? That's a terrible thing happend to the family.
