I'm considering buying a large family gift instead of a lot of smaller ones for each kid. If you own any of these game systems, could you please share your opinion of the pros and cons of them? And which one has the most kid-friendly games? Thanks in advance!

If you're wanting a system for the whole family that has kid-friendly games, definately go with the Wii. The Wii has a bunch of multi-player games and can have 4 players at once offline. It's cheaper than the PS3 and Xbox 360, so you have more money to get other things for the system, like extra controllers, more games, etc. Also, with the Wii, you're up and moving, not being lazy in front of the TV. I wouldn't recommend the Xbox 360 at all if you already have a PS2. Stick with the Playstation systems. That way, you can carry games over with you. Also, with the PS3 (Xbox 360 as well), you need a good HDTV to really get the best picture with the new graphics that they both have. Personally, my husband and I want to have both the Wii and the PS3. We recently bought the Wii last week and have had a blast with it. We still want the PS3, but because of the price, we're saving up and waiting to get a better TV to get the full effects of the system. Whatever you decide on, though, make sure you buy it soon. Everything's likely to be sold out shortly after Thanksgiving. Our Wii is/was going to be a joint Christmas gift between my husband and I, but we bought it early because the guy at Fry's told us to get it before Thanksgiving if we wanted to make sure they had it in stock.

thank you. Thanks to yours and the other comment, I'm ruling out the Xbox 360. Do you think a child in a wheelchair would be able to use the Wii to full capacity? I'm trying to decide this week because I believe you're right, they'll be scarce as all get-out after Thanksgiving and I cannot stand crowded stores.

A child in a wheel chair could probably do most, if not all, of the actions associated with the Wii, at least in the case of the games that I've played so far.

Well Wii comes with Wii Sports which is breathing easy to get in to. You just pick up the controller and go, its that simple. It also has a good range of games for all sorts of ages. Wii can play gamecube games too. You can also get games from older systems using wii points, like Nintendo, Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis among others. There is also net, weather, news and polls. Wii can't do DVDs though. You'll have to ask other people for what a PS3 and Xbox360 can give you. PS3 does all sorts of PS games, various ages and genre plus it plays multimedia. Xbox360 has several games as well, some can be family oriented but others are competitive and for more mature audiences.

Right now I'm torn between the Wii and the PS3. The Wii looks family friendly and interactive, but it doesn't play dvds or other media like music cds. The PS3, we currently have a PS2 and the kids could play all their old games (the both love Kingdom Hearts and the Graffiti Kingdom games). Plus it would replace our cruddy DVD player that freezes up on any dvd that has even a speck of dust. But the Wii looks like so much fun, lol.
