A very good dog

I have had dogs all my life. But we adopted a pure bread Doberman Pinscher pup. At the time we were not sure what it was. When they are a puppy they look like a Rott. We got and they said the person bought the dog for a present to his wife and she did not want it. So he gave it way. Went we see it in the glass cage, it tried to lick use. As it got older we found out it was a Doberman. But this dog was so gentle and loving that we was not sure how it could get a bad rating that Dobermans have. Well to be truthful, the dog was for my daughter. You know how little pups wine when you put them in their bed when they are new. Well we told our daughter to not put this dog in bed with her. Yea, Right! but she did. Now picture this. After the dog got old this dog almost doimaned the bed. One morning the daughter woke up finding it hard to get her breath and her chest was heavy. But then realize the dog was lay across her chest. This dog only bad habit was licking, Boy could she lick. When it got full grown it thougt it was a lap dog. The dog would put its chest on my lap and then tried to pull her back leg up on me but she was to big and then she would look at me in the face (like I going to help her get on my lap). But the dog never and I mean never show any problems to me or anybody we had in the house as long as we came in the house with them. There is much more about this dog that was just fantastic. Does anybody else have Doberman that is was fantastic?

I do not have any dogs but my sister just rescued a boxer mix, and we do not know what it is mixed with. The funny thing is it sounds a lot like your Doberman. haha He thinks he is a lap dog even though he is big. This dog literly gives you a hug when you come through the door. And what a licker. haha Big sloppy ones right on your cheek. I am going to have to tell her about your dog. Is he still with us?

I've never had a doberman, but I have had a German Shepherd. German Shepherds have also had a bad rap because some people use them in a violent way and teach them to be mean. German Shepherds are actually really sweet when you train them right and make good watch dogs. My Shepherd would always alert me when there were people at my front door or around my property.

I haven't had a Dobie but have had a Pit Bull and a rottweiler and know they both get a bad rap for being "bad dogs". I don't think there are any bad dogs... just bad dog owners. Any dog that's raised lovingly will be a wonderful companion. It's when they're mistreated that they turn mean. Problem is, when you adopt a dog from the pound, you have no idea what it's past is (doesn't keep me from adopting, just be wary).
