Do you experience christmas blues? Why?

Christmas decors, blinking lights, santa clauses are seen everywhere already. It's getting cold now. Obviously, christmas is already around the corner. However, this season arises a depressive feeling in me. I can not understand myself why i am feeling down. This happens to me everytime christmas season is coming near. Maybe because there's the desire that i want to be around all my love ones during this season but it can not be? Or because i get frustrated of the things happening around us that not even the season can make a camouflage on it? I remember that last year, there was a news that the rate of suicide victims rises up during this season, because of the blues, depressions which happens. How bout you, does it happen to you?

This has never been a problem for me but I know a lot of people suffer from it. I will say that my stress level goes up tremendously during the Christmas holiday. Probably because there are so many extra tasks to do. Decorating, shopping, wrapping, baking, parties, expenses all play a part in this stress. I still love Christmas and try to keep the joy of the holiday in my heart. Thanksgiving is another story. I would love to just stay in bed and pull the covers over my head on that day.

Oh yes, expenses play a big part of the blues also.

I love the holidays and don't usually get depressed during them. Although, when they are over I do sometimes feel a little blue and don't really know why. Maybe its because I have all these expectations and when they are over its not as great as I imagined. I don't know...

Maybe you feel a little frustrated over your expectations that weren't met regarding how the holiday was spent. But good to hear that you don't feel such blues.

oh yes, i get the holiday blues every year pretty much. i miss my mother and my sister, they live on the other side of the country and ive only been able to see them once in the past 6 years. another reason that i get the blues during xmas is cause im not in a relationship, and havent been in a number of years, so even though i do have some family around me, its just not the same as having that someone special there with you.

Missing family members does arise these blues. And you feel kind of emptiness because there is no one special in your life for now. I understand your plight, but for sure, someone special will come along...maybe at a most unexpected time.

No I don't feel depressed around Christmas time, but I can understand how sad you must be if you cannot spend the holidays with your loved ones. What I do hate around this time of the year is the heavy traffic all over Metro Manila. The traffic just multiplies 10 times during this time of the year. Ugh!
