It is a GOOD START

"Terrorism: New Jihadi manual rejects militant violence in Arab-Islamic world." Now, that's more like the kind of title one likes to see on an article about Jihad! Consider this quote from the article. "The new manual will call for an end to all Jihadi operations inside Arab-Islamic countries as well as an end to the killings of civilians in general and tourists, in particular, of all nationalities." Here's a link to learn more about this development. http://www.adnkronos.com/AKI/English/Security/?id=1.0.1547995282 Now, if only they would call for the end of all Jihadi operations in all countries and not just Arab - Islamic countries. As we want to go down the road of peace. It is a good start. What do you think?

It's a start. Too bad they didn't start with violence OUTSIDE Arab-Muslim countries...that seems to be where alot of the fighting/attacks are happening lately.

It probably would be too much to ask for even from one of their most respected leaders. Even as moderate as this message is, it is expected to be controvertial.

Hello Red, Yes, I do think it's a good start. I doubt that this will put asunder the mind-set that believes killing is appropriate for all infractions, real and perceived. Yet, as you say, it's a very good starting point. I would consider it a greater start if a leader of such a jihadi movement would proclaim the goal of a return to Mohammed's teachings of tolerance for non-Muslims. That would be a much stronger proclamation. Reading through the article, my attention was particularly drawn to the proclamation of 'hands off of tourists'. It would seem to me that Sayd Imam's intended goal is to not bite the hand that feeds the greater Islamic community. Call me a skeptic, but I don't see this as so much an act of good-will as an attempt at economic preservation of the Arab Islamic world. Of course, the question begs to be asked: What about the non-Arab Muslim world? There can be no question that al-queda has disparaged a great many Muslim's in their effort to cut down the infidels. Extreme Islam stands to lose many, many followers if persistent poverty & violence is the result of their presence. So, if this is simply a pragmatic, economic maneuver -- what the hay, it's still a start. One that is ultimately very helpful to the possible emergence of some form of Democracy, not unlike Turkey. When 'the people' are making a living, happy in their personal lives, they are less inclined to risk their personal lives and livelihood for someone else's extreme notions of Allah's will. Thanks for sharing! This is heartening news.

Did you catch the part where the proclamation is expected to be controvertial? Wow, talk about a cultural difference!

I think that it is a start, however I have some real reservations about the whole Islamic religion. It seems to be much too fluid and dependent on individual religious leaders decisions as to whether or not they are going to fight. It seems that all it takes is for one egocentric to call for Jihad and here we go again. While peace would be great, I don't see where a lasting peace will ever be possible, especially after knowing what Islam and Muslims think about anyone who is not a member of their religion. I don't think that we can trust a single thing they say, because they believe it is right to deceive nonbelievers right up until the time they decide to declare the next Jihad. Anyway, that's the way I see it.

I once read an article by a reporter who lived in an Islamic country for a number of years. He believed Islam is a cover story to maintain a patriarchal society and control of the people. He felt it really is nothing else. The vaulted "Will of Allah" these people talk about all the time is really whatever the government and the male head of a household says it is. It's a great con game if you are the government or the male head of a household.

I have to say this with a optimistic outlook. I hope this is the beginning of something beautiful!I know, I know. But if all it really takes is for one of the significant leaders to say "Do it this way." and the majority will follow, hopefully this will be the beginning of a wave of betterment in the Islamic world. I personally don't care what their religious beliefs are. There are so many religions here on this planet. But the violence that seems to represent the Quran anymore, needs to be quenched. So I have to have a positive attitude to this article's message. It's hard to believe it, given the thousands of years of hatred and murdering that has gone on in the middle east, but I want it to happen anyways. So thumbs up to the new manual!

Bilalinamdar, Thank you for your reasonable, well written, and intelligent response in this thread. I truely believe that if more Muslims wrote and spoke as yourself, there would be no problem between Muslims and the rest of the world.

I will only suggest one thing.. There is No leader in the Islamic community.. ISLAM = RELIGION MUSLIM = A person Practice Islam.. Christianity = Religion Christian = A person practice There is No problem in the Religion.. The people follow the religion on their own believes some times that makes the situation worse.. So every muslim should only follow the teaching of quran, prophet Mohammed (pbuh) & Sallahu ale wasalam... same in case of Christians...Or i can say any religion... Than there will be not a single Problem.. Why people always thing as muslim a terrorist or a bad person this is because of simple reason.. After 9/11 a misconception was spread around about Muslim is a Bad community or they have Jihad which is very cruel.. This is Because just fellow terrorist which are muslim ? Well let me explain Jihad... "Sources: Wikipedia" Jihad (Arabic: ???? IPA: [ ?i'ha?d]), meaning "to strive" or "to struggle", in Arabic, is an Islamic term and a duty for Muslims. It appears frequently in the Quran and common usage as the idiomatic expression "striving in the way of God (al-jihad fi sabil Allah)".[1][2] "to strive" or "to struggle" There is Not a single verse in the quran that says RELIGIOUS WAR... Jihad is not a Religion War... It is Just a fight against unjust or some wrong thing... What the Person did in the 9/11 or any other attack over the citizen (innocent) Is wrong and it is unjust done to them... The person who had feld a Unjust should and must stand for it..but he should only punish the responsible person precisely... Killing Innocent is prohibited in islam... Allah says in the Quran... A human kills other human is like he killed All of the Humanity A Human saves other Human is like He saved all the Humanity So i do not think there is Any violence in Quran... Even Bible speak about Jihad...Every scripture on the face of earth speaks about jihad.. Just because the Language is Different and due to Media Propaganda why people shut their eyes and misguide other... Open your eyes and if you want to come to anypoint Just read the quran. I am not telling to accept islam or something like that, what i means to say is just get accurate Knowledge....If u get accurate knowledge than u know everything will be crystal clear.. HALF KNOWLEDGE IS DANGEROUS... Yeah it is a Good Start that some one came up on the scenario... The main thing should be done is Teach the muslim which are not educated about islam...Teach them the actual meaning of islam.. and the proper practice of Islam... Thank you for reading this..

Huunh. I hadn't thought of that angle! Very good point! It fits in with everything that has been going on and hopefully this burst will be over with shortly. I'd really like to see our troops back home and not hear anymore of the crap that has come from these militants. Do you think peace is within the next 5 or so years?
