Walmart took out their self checkout lanes.

The last time I went to Walmart they no longer had the self checkout lanes. I always used these as it was so much faster than waiting for a cashier to ring stuff up and I could bag it how I wanted. Does your Walmart still have self checkouts? Do you know why they took them out?

I went to Walmart yesterday and the self checkout lanes were still there. I don't know why they would take them out. What state do you live in?

I live in Nebraska. I will have to ask them the next time I go why they no longer have them.

No way! I love our self checkout lanes. We still have them. I would really be upset if they got rid of them. I dont think its such a great idea. I think alot of people here would object to it.

We have a small Walmart. They only have registers run by cashiers. I wouldn't mind having self checkout lines though.

I have a SuperCenter Walmart (I have never been in their neighborhood grocery stores) and they still have the self checkout lanes. I never use them though. Sure, I have to wait, but the last two times I used them something messed up and I had to go find someone to help me. After that I thought I'd spare myself the humiliation. : )

Our Walmarts all have them, in fact most stores here have them. Well, I hate them to be honest with you. They are so annoying & they don't scan properly. If you touch the rack wrong it will say "wait for cashier assistance". They are plan annoying, and I find that people that use them don't know what the h*** they are doing. Therefore, I prefer to use the express lane with a cashier. I am not sure why they removed them from your store because they surely didn't do that in our store. Maybe no one was using them or they malfunctioned? Did you ask someone at the store why they removed them? Pablo

2 of the 3 Wal-Marts I go to have self checkout lanes. Though sometimes they aren't faster especially when there are more customers there than at the regular checkouts. :P This could be the reason they took them out where you're at as if they kept them there'd be no reason the have the regular checkouts and with this they'd have to let these employees go as they wouldn't be needed anymore.

My husband and I were just at Walmart the other day. At that time, they were still there. In fact, that's what we used! I don't know if they're still there, but I highly doubt that they've taken them out in the last few days. You should ask why they're gone next time you go. Maybe they're just being repaired or there wasn't really a need for them at the store you frequent.

I don't remember the last time I set foot in a Wal Mart store. I stay the heck away from those self checkouts, too. I wouldn't go near those if you paid me to use them. I have poor eyesight, and I'm afraid I'd mess up, if I tried to use those things.

In some store they have taken them out because of the amount of loss they had. I know it is hard to belive, but some people would not ring everything up. "No you say". Well it is true, in some stores, the number of people caught going through the door with things in the cart that was not rung up when they went through the self check was so great, that they just removed them. They would have to have someone watching each check station, so might as well just have a checker.
