I bought a new nice aquarium on last Friday and meanwhile I bought ten peacock fish for it. My son was quite excited to see it and he was so happy. Today it is happier for us because we have about 15 new babies fish:) I think we will have more in the coming days. Haha... It is the first time that our pets will have babies:)

Congratulations ! It is really great. Just like to know where they lay their eggs and whether you put some aquatic plants inside the aquarium.

They don't lay eggs, they deliver the baby fish directly:)

It seesm nowadays all things are much more convenient. You don't have to clean the tank often, the filter will clean it very well. And after dropping a special kind of cleaning dropps to the tank, it'll be very clean and it won't be harmful for the fish, too.

Hi friend, it is a great idea to raise fish in your house as your kid could learn a lot from it. Congratulation! You got so many new baby fish in such a short period. Do you separate the baby fish from the mother fish by putting them into another aquarium? I was told that it is rather safe not to let the baby fish to stay together with the adult fish. It is believed that the new born fish will bring fortune to their master. Hope you will get more and more lovely and colorful peacock fish later on. Have a nice day and Good Luck!

I think it's fine to have it at home. So your son will learn how to value the life and learn to be patient and responsible.

Your "peacock" fish are probably guppies. It is best to have two or more females for each male so that he doesn't harass the female(s) as much. They are live bearing fish that can store sperm and produce as many as 5 or more broods from one mating. You still need to change some water on a regular basis, I try to change abut 25% or more each week. I add anti chloramine liquid to the water that I put back in the tanks that I have (I have 10 aquariums set up and running).

Yeah, you are right. Thanks for telling me this specific word in English. Since I can't find it out from my dictionary, so I just use the name what we call it here.

Hey, that's great!;) I always want to see a fish reproduce in captivity, like insde an aquarium. I have not been lucky enough, after some failed trials on taking care of them. That is very rare, I believe so I hope that you take care of them!;)

I think it depends on the kind of the fish. Now the fish at my home can deliver baby fish directly. So it is easier:)

Congrats on the babies!! I bought some guppys a while back. I hade one male and 30 females. They pop out babies like crazy!! Hes one busy male guppy! Its neat to see the babies grow up and get color. Make sure you crush the flakes really little so the babies can eat it. They also need to be feed more often. Feed small amounts 2 times a day for the first two weeks. That will ensure they survive. You could also catch all the babies and but them in a net breeder. I did untill they were about half inch. Then I knew they were beeing feed and wouldnt get eaten. Good Luck with the babies!!

Hello dear youless. Congratulations, dear friend. So it is worth it to get the peacock fish as it bears more baby fish. So how about your baby fish now, as it is three weeks since you posted this discussion? I hope that they are all growing and living happily in the aquarium. Thanks for the good news.

My baby fish are doing fine until now. Some grow bigger. I have to wait for more days. After they are bigger, then I can put them into the aquarium.

wow that's amazing and I'm happy for you. it's quite exciting for young kids to see fish reproduce. or hamsters since many kids have hamsters as pets these days. i hope the delivery was successful and the small fry (that's what baby fish are called) were not eaten by their mom as it tends to happen. keep us updated on your fish adventures!

You are right. I have to be careful to catch the little baby fish from the aquarium and I will put them again when they grow up. Otherwise the big fish will eat them.

Hi youless! tropical fishes are very beautiful and colorful. I bet those peacock fishes are equally beautiful too. That is beautiful when you see those little fishes swimming around the aquarium. I remember how happy I was and amazed the first time I had an aquarium and one day we just woke up, having so many baby fishes swimming around. It was so beautiful and we were all surprised that we had purchased a pregnant swordfish. Congratulations on your new baby fishes! take care and have a nice day. :)

I don't have swordfish now, because my colleagues say it has a bad temper and I am afraid other fish will be picked up by them:)

I found it is quite difficult for goldfish to have baby because they lay eggs. Perhaps Rex needs a partner, think about it:)

it is interesting and joyful, lol.but I want to remind you,you should put the baby fish in another container,or else the big fish will eat them, although the big fish maybe their mother,so do this quickly,or else you will find the baby fish will become less and less.

I don't know that it will reduce the blood pressure, what an advantage:) I don't have this healthy problem now. But I think it'll be helpful for my mom and mother-in-law:)

Guppies, mollies, swordtails tends to breed rather easily. beware though some of the species eat their babies. Better to keep in separate tanks.
