When is the last time you've applied to a job?

I have been out of the work force for one year now, and want to go back to work. I used to own my own cleaning company and don't want to go back to that line of work again. It's very hard on the body. I also used to be a cashier at a grocery store and I think I want to do that again. I only want to work part time, maybe five hour shifts. I found an eight hour shift was too long and really hard on my knees and hips. So now I have to fill out an application. I haven't filled out one for about twenty-five or thirty years. It's harder than I thought it would be. They ask a lot of questions that I don't think they need to know. Like if your married or have small children at home. I guess they need to know if there will be any problems with missing work because of children, but really, that's none of their business, in my opinion. I don't have a resume done up but I guess I could do one online but it just seems like a lot of trouble if I'm filling out an application, why would they also want a resume? They ask all the smae questions on the application. Anyways, I guess I will finish filling it out and taking it to the store today. Wish me luck.

I have been living in Austria for 14 years now and I have never worked here. I think the main problem is the language, as I can understand a fair bit, but find it hard speaking German. I havent worked for 18 years now and I must say that I miss it! I miss the work, the friendships and even the routine. I guess I used to be a workoholic and now that is gone.

It would be so fun working in a German speaking country! I know a little bit of German because most of my family are German lol. I'd like to live in Germany and see all the interesting buildings and architecture.

I have last applied for a job 4 years back. I got the job and currently working with them. The timings are too much and moreover I have to spend another 4 hours in traffic to and fro. It is really hectic for me and I am thinking of a job change for good again. Hope I can find something suitable and a good one.

wow, that's a lot of travelling time. i don't think I would accept a job that I had to travel that far or that long. Why is it so far away? Do you live in the country that you have to drive to the city?

I have been in this job since July 1982, so its more than 25 years. There was instances the past years that I was looking for online jobs in overseas, like USA, Europe or Canada, but sad to say can't find any that will hire me coz they require a resident visa. Still I am working with the same company that I applied for the first time after graduation from college. Well, its better to prepare a resume when applying for a job. Good luck to you.

I applied for a job last August and got it!!! I haven't worked in well over 5 years and decided to go for a part time job. I'm so happy that I did it. I live alone and am on social security so I don't have to worry about kids and schedules so that makes my life so much easier. I applied online and got a reply the next day. The rest is history. Good luck!!

It is hard to schedule working around kids that does make life much easier. I went back to work part time after being a stay at home mom for 4 years. I work in the evenings though after my husband gets home from work.

Hi,there! I understand your feeling. It's somehow not easy to get back to work after twenty five years. There're some things that we need to obey in our daily life.In order to get a job,it's common that we need to fill out the application.Maybe the application is not designed as what we expect, but that's out of our requests. We can't require the company to make it suitable for us,right? The last time I've applied for a job was last year.I'm somehow happy with my current job and I hope I can do better and make progress all the time:) I just wish you good luck and get what you want^_^ Have a nice day!

The last time i applied for new work was last year. Never a fun expierence. I don't know if it's just me, but it always turns out to be really really awkward. And i usually dread it for days upon it's arrival. (Probably has something to do with my Procrastination Disorder lol) I usually do all my applications online, if at all possible, but then comes the "interview", so sometimes i don't see why not do both at the same time. ;) Anyway i hope all works out for you chrislots. Make sure to pick out a job that you are happy with, because there's nothing better than going to work happy ;)

The last time I applied for a job is a sore subject, because it was a job I really wanted, working with disabled children in a home, there were six of us, I was the only guy, because working with children is always women applicants, anyhow they wanted four out of six and I was rejected! I can't prove it but they only interviewed me to get their quota for men applicants. I am fully qualified have all the necessary qualifications but because I am a bloke no one will employ me because they don't want men working with children. It is so discriminating. 3 years of my life dedicated to studying etc! Sorry to rant, but it annoys me women can do mens jobs so why can't men do women's jobs?

All the jobs I have ever applied for, I never got because I don't have experience in anything. The last time I applied for one was maybe the middle of last year? I haven't had transportation since then, so there is nothing I can do about that. I wish I can apply for more jobs in person, but I cannot drive and I have no way to get back and forth to anywhere. There is not even public transportation here because it's out in the middle of nowhere, so I'm out of luck. That's the reason I try to make a little money online, even if it isn't all that much. Mylot and Moratraffic are the best sites for me so far. I've gotten about $5.27 in my Paypal from Moratraffic so far. I hate feeling so useless. =( Oh well, all I can do is continue with these sites and make the most of them. =)

I have never filled out an application that asks if I have small children at home. I don't think I have ever had one ask if I am married either. The applications usually ask the usual name address, wage expected, and job refereneces. I just went back to work after being off for 4 years but I went back to the place I worked before and did not have to fill out an application the boss just put me on the schedule.

It is a long time (about 3 years) not to pursue the new job. I worked in the same company for about 3 years. every day do the same job,it is boring. I would like to change the new job. but it seemed that it is quite very hard to find the good job with my expected salary.
