Do you put tinsel on your Christmas tree?

I never liked it! - tinsel in boxes

I never liked tinsel on my Christmas tree even though I always used it. It took me years to figure out that there were two different weights and the heavier one solved the problem of having it all over the floors and everything else in the house. This year I'm not using it and just put the tinsel garland on my tree and I'm so much happier with it. Do you put tinsel on your Christmas tree? If you do do you just deal with the mess and pick it up and throw it back on the tree or vacuum/sweep it up? What do you use as an alternative if you don't use it?

I don't use either one nor do I use artificial snow either. We put our ornaments up and then we put up little red bows all over the tree and it looks really pretty. One wouldn't think so till they've seen one all done up, I'm one of them till my grandmother bought a couple of boxes for me so I had to use them before she came over to see how good my tree looked and I was quite pleasantly surprised that it turned out to be right pretty. However, each person is different and all of us decorate our trees like our homes, much differently which is interesting to see when going to different houses and seeing it for ourselves.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no, it depends on what mood i am in when i decorate my christmas tree...I use to have a huge tree when my kids were small and we put everything on the tree including tinsel, we even strung popcorn as a family back then..Now it is just my husband and i, but i always put up a tree each year but a much smaller version, the grandkids like a tree so we have one, but i dod not think i had tinsel last year,i might this year, im not sure at this point..

I've never been very fond of tinsel myself. I've seen people who coat their trees with it so much that all you see is the tinsel. I like tinsel garland though and usually have some of that on my tree. I really just prefer lots of lights, ows, and simple ornaments.

My daughter told me if I wasn't going to put any more ornaments that I needed garland. Today I bought some tinsel garland and she was right. It looks so much better.

My son likes tinsel so there is going to be tinsel on our Christmas tree and I will have to pick it up everytime it falls off the tree and vacuum it all up later on LOL

When I used to put up a large tree, ctry, I would throw some of everything on there. Since I've been using a small tree I try to pick and choose exactly what I want on it. I do use a bit of tinsel on my tree with a minimal amount of decorations. For me, it's all about the lights. I love the lights!

I love the lights too and this year since I got them free I only have white ones and I think they look just as good as colored ones do. I'm very happy with the outcome.

It's all in what people like. Some people have to have tinsel and others don't. Since I live alone it's all up to me so I opted not to use it.

We do not put tinsel on our Christmas tree. My wife and I just don't like the way it looks on the tree. Our 3 kids decorate the tree with my wife and I just watch them.

I stopped using tinsel when I got a dog because I was told dogs can choke on it if they try to eat it. My dog passed away many years ago, but I just never went back to using tinsel. It looks nice on the tree, but the cleanup is ridiculous and since you don't really reuse the same tinsel every year, I'm guessing it isn't great for the environment anyway. Now I pretty much just stick to lights, ornaments, candy canes, and sometimes greeting cards that I receive from friends and family. And sometimes I'll use pretty ribbon instead of big strings of garland. It's a lot less fuss and muss, and it looks just as lovely.

Nah..never liked it. To me it makes a tree look chintzy..LOL. Besides with kitties around I wouldn't want them to get it in their heads to chew on it..not a good idea. I don't use any alternative really, just have the various decoration hanging on the tree

I'm really trying my best to avoid this christmas posts. IT'S NOT CHRISTMAS YET! SANTA HAS NOT ARRIVED FROM THE NORTH POLE YET! Ha ha. I'm really a stickler about this. the more people Christmas it up too early the more I loath christmas by the time it comes. BUT you're so persistent! Ugh! ha ha. But to answer your question, I used to. But I have a cat and he'd eat it and it's not good for them, so I can't ever put it on the tree anymore, but I loved it. Sure a tree is messy but that's what its supposed to be. That's a part of christmas. I usually just use garland and stuff now.

I don't put tinsel on my tree I get tired of picking it up off the floor and out of my chilrends hair! I put garland around my tree and I think that makes it look pretty enought to not put the tinsel on. My aunt puts so much tinsel on her tree you can't even see the decorations!

I've never put Tinsel on my Christmas Tree. In my opinion, it looks somewhat tacky. But then again, I consider myself to be a basic tree & thin lights kind of person. Classic :)
