Do you have an ornament or something special that absolutely MUST go on your tree each and every year? I do, and it's my angel for the top. I also have special ornaments that the kids and I have made together and ones that I had their names engraved on...all those have to go on the tree every single year. My aunt is crazy about her strands of bead and tinsel that her granddaughter made. So, what special items make your holiday complete?

I have Snoopy ornaments, they came from Spain, and there are 12 Snoopy's dressed in costumes from different countries. My mom bought them for me when I was in high school and they have gone on my tree every year since. Through 3 divorces, 2 kids and they have remained the one constant through the years.

That's really interesting. I've never seen any like that. And I so know what you mean about being the one constant through the years...I'm on my second divorce and I have 5 kids, and my boyfriend has 5. I hope that the tree and all the ornaments make it through this year, lol. Happy Holidays!

lol, it will make it. My Snoopy ornaments even made it when I had my mom ship me my Christmas decorations, from Texas to Pa.! I didn't have room in my car for all of it when I moved up here 2 1/2 years ago, so when it came close to Christmas time I had my mom ship it all to me.

The first Christmas that I was out of my mom's house, I bought a star for the top of the tree. It doesn't light up or anything, there are no moving parts. It's just a metal and wire star with a little bit of very fine glitter on it. Very basic, no frills star. I love it. I've had it for almost 10 years, so some of the glitter is wearing off, so I might get some superfine glitter and add some to it this year. The way the tiny flecks of glitter reflects the lights on the tree is really quite pretty. That goes on my tree every single year. I also have ornaments that my ex's parents have sent for every year of my son's life, those have to go on the tree, too. When he starts making ornaments, I'll put those up, too. My mom still has some ornaments that my sisters and I made in school (we're 36, 31 and 27) and they STILL go on the tree every year.

When my kids were little, every year we made an ornament together. When they grew up and moved away they got to take all their ornaments with to start their own trees with..It's wonderful memories to take with you where ever you go!

I have a couple of ornaments that are absolutely essential to being put on the tree. However, I am not putting my tree up this year. I have a small tree on my table in the living room. I am not much for celebrating and neither is my daughter. My husband is in Iraq and I think we are just going to have a big blowout next Christmas. This year we aren't even going to be here, we are going back home to see family for Christmas, so I don't see the point of putting up the big tree and all that. But in general my daughter has made ornaments throughout her childhood, I have an ornament I made in elementary school adn I have my brothers little ornaments he made in kindergarten. I am the sentimental one here in the family so I got the special ornaments!

I don't want to put up a tree either. I really have NO PLACE to put it. But, I suppose I'm going to have to FIND the room, ugh. I'm sorry to hear that your husband is in Iraq. I wish you a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy your visit with your family.

My favorite items are all the things my children have made over the years. I do not have one of those beautiful color coded trees. Mine is full of a little bit of everything and lots of colors and designs. If you make it I will put it up.

I have an angel for the top of the tree that is about 12 years old. I just love it and so does my boy. That is the last thing to go on and the first to come off. From this year me and my son are going to make 1 decoration each year that he can make it him self (he is 4) and keep it till he is older as a keepsake.

Well almost my entire tree is covered in ornaments my kids made. One thing I always put on are the very few ornaments and icicles I have left that belonged to my grandmother. I lost an entire box in a move once that held quite a bit of her ornaments in it. She passed away when I was a child, so it's all I have left of her.

I have a collection of snowmen....over a hundred go on my tree. Most of them have been gifts from friends and family. Each and everyone of them has a special meaning or memory. My best friend and I share our love of snowmen so many I have gotten from her and while I was spending time with her....makes my trees a very loving tree!
