Are You Going To Be MyLotting On Thanksgiving or Will It Be a Ghost-Town?

Naturally people outside of the United States will no doubt be on=line and MyLotting on Thursday, but for us folks here in the US it's Thanksgiving and many of you folks will have special plans, going to visit family to have the Thanksgiving day feast, or being with friends, and so forth. I might actually start some of my Thanksgiving Day cooking on Wednesday to save a bit of time so I'm not cooking three thousand things at once. I have to admit, since I'm going to be having a "different" Thanksgiving Day meal, that is the duck breasts rather than turkey I always get the willies anytime I cook something new, like gee, will it come out okay? Yes, I'm a good cook, but I still fret how things will turn out, despite the fact the only ones who will be eating the dinner are me and my kitties...wonder if they'll like the duck? LOL So are any of you, despite that it's Thanksgiving on Thursday, going to pop in here on occasion? I know I will in between things cooking, and simmering, boiling, baking, roasting..LOL And what are some of your plans for Thanksgiving anyway..small family affair or a big shin dig?

It's just gonna be my family having turkey, along with my 4-legged kids as well. They get a special dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas. The older ones will know what's coming by the smells but the 2 kittens won't. lol Not having a whole lot. Just turkey, stuffing, mashed taters/gravy, couple veges, dinner rolls. I give up making dessert cause it never gets eaten till days after turkey day. lol I'll be popping in and out of mylot as well tomorrow.

As I live in the United Kingdom we don't celebrate Thanksgiving so for me it's just a normal day and will be Mylotting as usual. But to all my American friends and special brothers and sisters who mean the world to me a very very Happy Thanksgiving to you all x

I used to spend Thanksgiving all alone all the time when I was living in the States. When I moved over to Scotland, I started celebrating it. Back home, I used to work on that day as janitors never got a day off. The store was nice and quiet so the work went pretty fast. I didn't bother cooking just for myself although I always made my pumpkin pie. Now, we have a few friends over each year. We celebrated it early this year so that our friends from England could be with us. My pumpkin pie went over great as our friend's had never eaten one. My hubby even helps with the cooking. It's not a bad thing to be alone on the holidays. I really enjoyed it as my schedule was my own. I'll be around as will plenty of others.

I'll be alone too tomorrow, save for my two little fur-babies, my two kitties and I don't mind either...no frazzleness to worry over about getting things done by a certain time..LOL. My two kitties never seemed to impressed by the hoopla of my cooking the dinner though.... Instead of pumpkin pie, I usually make my Sweet Potato pie..love it!

I'll probably drop in mylot tomorrow night sometime. I'm having Thanksgiving at my parent's house, and they live only 20 minutes away. My sister and brother-in-law are making the 3 hour trek to get here tonight so they can spend all day with us tomorrow. But I'm not waiting around. I'm at my place right now trying to occupy Sherlock. It's absolutely freezing here (yesterday it was 80!) and he wants to stay outside as much as possible.

Well, first I have to go to work. I'll work about 3 to 3 and a half hours. Then I will leave & go to my mom's. There I will meet my brother & his girl friend and we will eat dinner, probably about 1ish. Then I will leave and go to my roomie's folks. I'll probably eat a bit more. Collect a plate for my client, and the roomie and go home. Then I will go BACK to work with the plate for my client and any thing I need to do to wrap up work and finish off my 4 hours with her. So, unless I can pop on the computer at her place in the morning, I'll only get on mylot later in the evening. And yes, I do sometimes post from her place when she's not got me doing stuff.

Hey - I've got a job. I've got a job that my client is flexable about me. I DOUBT she'd be as flexable about her other helpers before me. But she knows I'll be there 4 hours if I'm supposed to be there 4 hours. I won't go over and "wait" for the mail man to come - for an HOUR!!! And I try to fix things the way she wants them fixed.

Well technically it IS Thanksgiving (at almost 1 a.m. PST this Thursday morning) and here I am on MyLot! :P LOL My husband and I didn't have any plans, except to spend time with our kids. That is, until I mentioned that one of our favorite restaurants may be open today! So my husband called them up before he went to sleep and sure enough they are open from 11 am - 8 pm. Best part is that they have turkey there, so no need to cook my own (good thing to because I can't cook! :P LOL). And it's always moist and tender. Yum! It's been a while since my family and I have been there (almost 3 months) so it should be good! Happy Thanksgiving! I hope the duck turns out! :)

Unfortunately my family and I were unable to go. :( My husband woke up to a cold that steadily got worse throughout the day. Poor guy went to sleep a few hours ago, then woke up because he said he couldn't breath...felt like he was suffocating. :( He went back to bed, but I don't know how he's going to get much sleep tonight...

Hi pyewacket and Purple TeddyBear, I've heard the reason 'we Canadians' have our Thanksgiving in October, is because of our climate. In order to take advantage of the fresh produce, including our pumpkin crop, we have it then. We have snow on the ground here in Ontario, as of yesterday. Apparently, we used to share the same Thanksgiving, but it was changed (I'm not sure how long ago), due to the above reason.

Thanks pye. Not too sure why it's in October, but it is lol. Seems kind of silly seeing as we share the same continent and all.

I plan to be all on my own for Thanksgiving, pyewacket. I did it last year and suffered no ill effects from it, so I will do the same this year. I'm not feeling especially close to my family right now, and they're used to my moods. I know that I'll be thinking of my mother and sister a lot because this will be the first holiday with both of them gone. I'm not really sad, I just miss them. The kids will bring me food and I have a friend that wants to feed me too, but I don't really have an appetite. Maybe I will by the time Thursday rolls around. Hope you and the kitties enjoy the feast you are preparing. It's a good idea to get an early start. You can prepare some of the things on Wednesday and you won't feel so crowded on Thursday.

Last Thanksgiving was actually my first on my own, as my mother had just passed away that August, but I still fixed a great Thanksgiving with all the pizazz and trimmings..I had so much turkey leftover and was eating turkey every which way possible. Not that I was complaining. When I used to have a lot of cats, even if I got an 18 pound turkey, the way the cats ate it, it was gone in two days--the two cats I have now weren't too impressed by the turkey though last year..they gotten spoiled on Fancy Feast now Yup, think cooking up some of the things on Wednesday will leave me less frazzled..LOL Well since you'll be on your own too on Thursday I'll keep you company..LOL

I'll be here at least at some point during the day. My husband has to work that night, so he's probably going to start things cooking and then go to bed, and get back up to eat later. We're not doing much... just staying home with me, him, and the little one. So I'll probably be on here just as much as on a normal day off. Of course if no one else is here, I might just have to go on a discussion posting spree or something, or I might totally lose my mind.

I have no idea if I will be online tomorrow or not. I have a few programs that I will check on and definitely check my mail. I normally do half the cooking on Wednesday, what I can get away with anyhow :) It will just be us. My husband, 2 kids and myself. I normally have my mother over and sometimes my brother and his girlfriend, but after my father passed away last year and my mom decided to act like a crazy person, saying things that she still has not taken back, I told her I would never again have the celebrations at my house. She will have to go out of state to spend it with my 2 sisters that don't speak to me or my brother...what a mess...lol Less stress for me, she is very controlling and demeaning, last year we had very good holidays because she was NOT here... So, I am looking forward to it being just "us". Who needs the stress? lol Have a wonderful holiday, Pye. I hope that you enjoy your duck immensely..I am having a roasted chicken. Turkey goes to waste here. Yuck..lol

In between working today my daughte and I made four pies, eight loaves of bread and a huge apple crisp. I will do veggies and stuffing in the morning. I will be here though because I don't go anywhere and most everything is all set for dinner. We are actually having our turkey Friday because my daughter is going to her boyfriends home. I will be making the fritters fresh on Friday though.
