It's official: I'm a certifiable lunatic!

I've rescued 4 more animals. Two Saturdays ago, I learned that a person living here had left during the night. He left all his furniture, cars, a caravan, and also his animals. There is one big cattle dog, a bit scary; a b!tch with puppies, 8 originally, 5 disappeared, one was taken and also a goat. The little goat was attacked by dogs a short while ago and had her front leg damaged. It has healed but is bent backwards. When I first noticed it, he told me he was treating it....he lied. She gets around okay but tries to use it still. Luckily, goats graze on their front knees alot. She can run really fast too and I have fallen in love with her. So has Pickles, my billy goat (he's a wether). I was calling her Sweety, but I call all my animals that so her official name is now Tulip. Tulip has settled in really well with everyone...she has a lovely nature and already her coat is showing signs of improvement with the good tucker she is getting. The mother dog was previously owned by a young family. They gave her to this man because they were not allowed to have her when they moved into a house here. They have several dogs and other animals. They left town too and I've tried to contact them and sent them a message but I have not heard from them. The mother's name is Jedi and she is a beautifully natured dog but has been used as a breeding machine. She is a Staffy I think. She has 2 puppies left, a girl who is a fawn colour and a boy who is brindle. Yesterday, I brought them home too because they were starving. Call me crazy but that's what I've done. The sad thing is, I cannot keep the dogs. My father is elderly and I like to visit him every few months and I have to depend on someone to care for my animals while I'm away. Preparing their food and feeding them and looking after them is a huge job and it's unfair to expect someone else to do it. They will have to go to the pound if I cannot find homes for them. The thought of this is making me feel like I'm going to throw up.

What a tough situation. But I understand how you feel hon. I wouldn't give up my dogs and cats for the world. But it really does make it difficult to take any kind of vacation, as my two dogs don't trust anyone but us. And they are there to guard the back yard as we have our boat stored there. I'm sure it's so very painful for you to have to part with the dogs. But you need to do what is right for your family. I'm sure the pound will find homes for the puppies....they usually do. The bigger dog might be a bit more difficult, but maybe you can go online and look for some animal rescue organizations in your area that can come and take him. Good luck sweetie. My prayers and thoughts are with you hon.

That's what my neighbors are like. Remember my post about Raider and how he was kept tied to the side of their house? Well they ended up getting rid of him (and not to me darn it), and now they have two puppies that they just leave out in the back yard. They don't pay any attention to them at all. That is just so aggravating to me. I'm getting ready to call animal control on them again! Grrrrr!

What's wrong with people? What's the point of getting rid of that lovely dog and getting 2 pups to neglect. At least they'll have each other. I have to be honest and say I don't know what happened to the critters when they left here. All I could think about was my poor baby and my other fur babies.

I have a friend who will help me but it's a big ask. If I had consulted him before I acted, he would have advised against me taking the dogs. But he should know me by now and know I couldn't let these little furry people suffer any longer. There isn't much of anything else hereabouts in the way of help. It just makes me so mad. People let their animals breed then dump the babies and leave them to die or drown them or whatever else they do. They get themselves a dog and chain it up day after day after day, feeding it only when they think of it and certainly not regularly, no clean water, no pats or walks no clean areas. I think it's why I acted and took these guys in. I'm just so sick of the cruelty and neglect I've seen in the last 2 years.

You are a very compassionate and loving lady, anyone who rescues animals is wonderful in my eyes, I have rescued animals in the past, but please don't laugh, I have rescued frogs, out of the jaws of cats! I have saved about half a dozen frogs and have given them a temporary home, I actually got quite attached to them. Frogs are fascinating creatures and I couldn't bear them to be captured, played with and killed. So we both share the craziness for animals too!

Hey, I'm not laughing, I love frogs too and I have a couple of big green ones that hang around my front verandah. The cat likes them too and I've had to rescue a couple and sometimes I've found remains only. Banjo, the cat, also brings home micro-bats. He doesn't mean to kill things, he likes to play and gets a bit rough. He's brought home 3 micro-bats now and I've been able to release them back into the night. He brought a chicken home the other morning...nothing wrong with it. Other birds, I've been able to rescue and they fly off. I'm so happy I moved out here where I have this huge block that's big enough for the two goats, dogs and cat. And any other animal visitors are welcome too. LOL.

Ah Ms.Tickle, You have a heart of gold. It must be a pleasure to see those poor animals gaining their strength and be happy again. Hopefully you will be able to find good homes for them. In the meantime I wish you all the best and take good care of yourself too. I can see you have a lot of work right now.

It could be that you are buying them some time, though, by giving them temporary shelter. Animals need someone with a kind heart. Lucky they found you. I hope you can find someone who will take them from you.

Jedi and her puppies. - Mum, with son and daughter...puppies are cuties.
To be honest, I'm getting a big kick out of watching them eat proper food. I'll try posting the photo again. The mother looks disgraceful.

Oh Tickle, I dont think your a lunatic!! I think that is really nice of you to care so much, seeing as the original owners didnt care at all. It is a tough job taking care of animals, they seem to need more care than a person at times. Do you think you could find homes for them? With people that you trust? I would hate to see them go to the pound too, they probaly wouldnt last too long and get euthanized, thats really a sad thought. I hope you can work something out to keep them or find them a nice home. Bay Lay Gray xx

I don't know that this will have a hppy outcome Bay. There are not many people around here that look after their animals. At least while they are with me they will be fed, watered, groomed, cuddled and played with, all my animals get that treatment.

Congrats, you have a very good heart, which is very rare these days. I sincerely hope that you would find a good home for your extras. I have the same feeling for children and not like animals, i cannot take street children home even for a few hours. That way you are lucky, you can do what your heart says even for a little time. I only can think about the kids and cry on my own. So comparatively, you are luckier. Good luck with your hunt for good homes. Take care (dont lose your precious heart)

Yes, MsTickle you're certifiable..LOL--more people should be as certifiable and caring about animals as you and that is a really wonderful thing you did there. I sure do hope there is some way you can find homes for the dogs though rather than take them to the pound. But geez, wouldn't you just love to find thep person who high-tailed it out leaving those animals and give him a kick in the you know what?

Hi Ms Tickle! You may be a certified lunatic but in my dictionary you are a certified kind person who has a golden heart and as big as the ocean. Wow! With that being said, I do admire your sincerity in caring for these neglected animals. I think a person who is kind to animals is really a kind person. If a person is kind to these creatures, what more with his or her fellowmen. Just my thoughts and keep up the good work. With regards to having them sent to a pound i know it will be very difficult but sometimes we can only do so much. However, there might be somebody who will be willing to care for them, don't lose hope. Take care and have a nice day. :)
