We use Resolve. It is good at getting out stains and also for furniture fabrics that you have not cleaned for a while. We have a steam cleaner but it is very bulky and takes a lot of time putting it together. I used to use just dishwasher soap but it did not do as good job. We cleaned our dining room furniture and got the stains off the fabric and I also tried the arm rests of our former rocking chair and now it looks almost brand new.

I actually had a stain.. on my couch..and I took windex..strange ( I had nothing else) and sprayed the spot..rubbed it and it came out..
Usually I will take warm soapy water..but I have discovered that windex work or even it's generic counterpart works great.
