Work abroad to earn more or just stay in your homeland and earn less?

You had two choices to decide on: Work abroad and earn more to reach a certain goal with opportunities to visit many places, to experience other culture, to meet different types of people but you'll be far from your family. The other option is to stay in your homeland get paid with minimum wage and make the most out of it. Be close to your friends and with just a phone call or SMS away you'll be able to hangout with them and maybe once in a while be able to explore the wonders of your country. But most of all be near your family. So what would you choose?

I think I'll work abroad and earn more. Maybe, if I'll earn more here in my hometown then I'll stay. But if I had to choose, I'll work abroad because I want to travel to a new place. Meet new friends, experience a different culture and live in a different way. During the holidays or if I don't have work, I'll go home and visit my family and friends. I could also bring some gifts. It is ok if I got to stay here with my love ones but I won't experience other things. My life would be somehow boring and I won't make the most of it.

Well being married, I would have my husband to consider. If he were willing to come with me, then I would do it. Otherwise, I would not. I would not want to destroy my marriage in the process. Knowing my husband though, he would come with me. He has always been supportive in my career choices.

It would really be better if the opportunity will be for both of you to go abroad together. There are some who offer such work opportunities.

I'd work abroad. Not for the money but for the experience. Sometimes those kinds of opportunities are once in a lifetime type of opportunities and you should take them when you can. So you're away from your family for a while it's not like you can't visit or write or talk on the phone especially with the technology we have today. And it's not like you'll be doing this for the rest of your life.

Well that's the good side of having the technology nowadays. People can get in touch with family and friends in realtime. Being away for the first time will be difficult and the first few months will be tough. But the experiences of being in another place is also incomparable.

And there are Filipino communities there for sure which can be somewhat like your 2nd family. I also have a friend from highschool who's working now in the Middle East. She's not used to being far from her family and the first month was really tough for her. I had to convince her to just live each day one day at a time, enjoy the place, and not think of the distance. The only way a person can overcome homesickness it not to think about it although it's really difficult at first.

Well, there are some companies out there that would either send you to another country for a couple of weeks or months for some projects or maybe if there are new products but then you will be based on your homeland.

i wont mind going abroad away from my loved ones for some time if i can actaually earn some really handsome income in return. The difference should be really good. I mean goung abroad should in itself be a paying proposition. In such a case i would go out to earn well for my family.

It can be a tough decision for some but if the purpose and intentions are really beneficial being away for some time wouldn't feel that long.

hi mabelk. I'd choose staying in my country with less money. A lot of young people in my country decide to work abroad, because it is a great opportunity to earn really good cash. But I prefer to be with my friends and famlily. My income is quite small, but it is not a problem for me as long as I'm happy:). I like to have holiday in my country. There are plenty of lakes, there is also a sea and I can go also to the mountain. And what about you mabelk, what would you choose?:). have a nice day. jazgottt

I admire your choice. I used to think that way when I was younger. 'Always told myself that I would prefer working in my country but then there came a time that I had to choose. I already made my choice two and a half years ago but that doesn't mean I'm actually earning more. It's only sufficient to meet my goals and I never regret it. 'Had good experiences though incomparable to the satisfaction of experiencing them if it's together with my family. Have a good weekend!

I've checked your profile, mabelk, and I am almost the same age as you are:). I used to think that way when I was younger, and now, I think that way even more. I seldom change my mind:). But I think we should never say never. So maybe one day I'll be looking for job abroad. But I think it is not very probable;). cheerio. jazgottt

Hi silver_shaddow, for a person who really has strong bonding or connection with family and friends, the first few months of being away from home will be really difficult. For those with good motivations, overcoming those difficulties come naturally.

For me, it would be very difficult to make more money in another country than I can in the US. However, I have visited many other countries (42) and have found several that I would be interested in moving to for different reasons and opportunities.

I couldn't agree any less. It does make you independent and make have your own choices. And if ever those choices lead to failure, as long as you know how to learn from them, it will definitely improve your way of thinking.
