Are cookies killing your computer? Or, spreading viruses?

Today I was signing up for another paid to post forum, and they mentioned that they place cookies on your computer. And, most times I don't like when sites place cookies on my computer. But, they said that the cookies help keep you logged into their forum. And, I guess that makes sense. Personally, I don't mind the good kind of cookies that make my browsing experience more convenient. I don't like having to log into a site every time I go back. So, maybe cookies do have their good uses. What do you think? Are cookies good or bad? Did you know that there are advertising cookies that relay information between unrelated websites, so that advertisers can display advertisements based on the types of sites you visit. At least that's what my Spy Doctor anti-virus program says. And, that's all well and good, unless you are visiting adult sites and then later have other family members use your computer. They would have to put up with advertisements based on YOUR browsing habits, if you know what I mean. That's what I've heard anyway. Not really good, if you have kids using the same computer. Guess not everyone knows that. Best to flush your cookies after each browser session. What do you think about advertising cookies? Good thing or bad thing? Do you think cookies can spread viruses to your computer?

I stopped joining up to other sites because what was being put on my computer, I had my tech here one day and he put a cleaning program in and while it was cleaning my computer up a warning signal came on of something soming in and it stated where it was coming from and it was one the sites I had joined so I deleted them all and now I just stay here on Mylot, I just don't think it is worth stuffing up my computer....

I hear ya! That is the absolute truth. You never know what those scammers on the Internet are going to be putting on your computer. Best to stay some place safe. My lot gets money from other resources, so they don't have to download junk.

Yes, of course, you are being spied by various different sites when you are browsing the net. They even not down the resolution of your computer monitor and what are your shopping preferences and which sites you visit daily, etc. You are not alone anymore on the net, you are always being watched.

i never hear that the coockies are bad, it's only a little system to remember an internet web-pages. So with the coockies you don't catch a virus, you could only catch a spyware or malware, after this problem your computer are vulnerable, before not. MIRI

Hi,there! That's a long story! Well,I really agree with some of your points. I think cookies are both good and bad. It's good cause it remembers some of our information and make it faster and more convenient for us to log in. It's bad cause it sometimes really kill the computer. I always have problems with it so that I have to delete the cookies once in a while. Moreover,it also spreads the viruses. So it can very troublesome.I think it's better to clean it in a certain period of time. Thanks for the discussion and enjoy your day:)
