We were coming home from shoping on black friday. Everything was going good. The weather had stayed nice and it was just around dark time. When out of know where a BIG HUGE BUCK comes running in front of us! I screamed Deer like 12 times. My husband hit the breaks and swerved. We missed the deer but blew out the brakes! Now this buck was huge. Im not joking he was taller than my car, had 6-8 points and weighed about 300 pounds! Im soooo glad we dint hit him. That would have totaled the car for sure. Back to the brakes. We still had a 45 min drive to home. We drove slow and avoided as many stops as we could. We made it home safe no problem. My husband checked out the car at work in the morning{hes a mechanic} and saw that we busted the brake hose and the fitting was snapped off inside. Of course no one in the darn state has a new one! So he went to the junk yard and got one off a junk car! Worked well and cost a whole 3$. That was my adventure on black friday. Have you ever hit or missed a deer?

Wow, I am glad you did not hit the deer. At least it did not cost much to fix, although it is a pain when something is wrong with the car. Those bucks will do it every time.

whenever I see deers run across the road I always yell out to Bambi! Ha ha. We have a few deers that run across my road, but I don't even live out in the middle of nowhere. I'm pretty cautious about it and I haven't (knock on wood) hit one. I know that they pretty much kill your car and usually still walk away. There was one time that I was driving and Bambi ran out in front of me. I wasn't going fast cause there's a big turn on my road which is only 30mph anyhow, and then was running NEXT to my car. I was really freaked out cause I was so scared she was gonna come running out in front of me so I was driving like 5 mph down the road. The deer finally ran off the other way and I turned into my driveway. That was my only close call so far. Hopefully my only ever!

You know Copper, doesn't it make you wonder that a huge deer runs across your path, and your brakes blow out, busting a brake hose and a clamp, never hitting the deer, and you both are safe and unhurt. Is this the car your husband or you drive all the time?..and are you driving on the highways? Coincidence?....hmmmm, you're talking to a person who believes in the Paranormal, Guardian Angels, and Spirit Helpers. It certainly makes me wonder.

It does make you wonder. It was a big jerk in the car when the breaks blew. To the other side of the deer. Luckly there wasnt any other traffic coming either way. Yes we drive the car everyday. No it wasnt a highway just a normal 2 lane road.

I've never hit a deer (knock on wood). I've come close to hitting them several times though. I'm so glad that you and your husband missed that deer. That would have been a bad accident. Normally all I ever see are deer without antlers. I would like to see a big buck but standing in a field not in the middle of the road. My step father had a buck run in to the side of his car. It put a good sized dent in their car. Junk yards are nice sometimes. Sounds like you guys were lucky. Have a great day.

I would have prefered he was in a field and not running in front of us. He was so beautifull though. Im very glad we didnt hit him.

We have not hit a deer or missed it. We were lucky to see some on the edge of the highway, but when we ere going through the States on our trip, we saw quite a couple deer who had not made it and they did look as if they could totaled a car. I was wondering what happened to the deer, do they get thrown back to the side, and what happens to the bodies, you know, give them to a restaurant or something. I know in Canada the Native Indians can hunt so they probably take them. It was sure lucky that you found a brake hose and at such a cheap price too.

300lbs is very small, you probably saw one that was about 700-1200 if it was that tall
