The summer season for snake bites has begun & there has already been a serious snake bite. This time a 52 year old man was hiking in Queensland & was bitten by a snake. He described it as a "big dark snake." He had to be taken b y helicopter to hospital, & he survived. Sadly, people don't always seek imedtate treatment when bitten by snakes & this is when they die. Most of Australia's snakes are deadly.

Tell me about it, I live in Mackay & we get snakes come around when the cane is being cut...I lost a dog 2 years ago to a snake too.

Yes, dogs find it very hard to survive if bitten by a snake. Their circulatory systems move too quickly.

That guy is lucky he survived. I wouldn't want to go hiking without some kind of protection against snakes, like maybe boots and snake bite kit. Just thinking about getting bit is creepy.

It is also recommended to wear boots when hiking.
