MyLot earnings - Experiments

United States
November 30, 2007 2:34am CST
Though I have mentioned in various discussions that I am not in myLot purely for the money, curiosity got the better of me and I tried a couple of experiments to see how earnings are calculated here. One day, I started only discussions and another I only replied discussions. My findings are that I do not earn for starting discussions but responding to discussions earn me a cent each. Do you have other earnings experiences/findings in myLot? Feel free to share. Cheers.

Thanks for sharing with us about your experiment. So, what if you reply to people who responded to the discussion that you started. would you get paid for that. So, if that is the case then nobody would want to start and only want to reply. And if nobody starts, how can anybody reply? But, I remember many months ago where I started a discussion and I got 2 cents for that... May be you need to try a longer discussion and see the result. This is interesting!

That is true. Perhaps, I did not wait long enough in my experiment. Hopefully, someone else would share more of their experiences here. Afterall, I am pretty new to myLot and my findings might be preliminary.

It is interesting to see the posts add up. It's fun to see what other people are thinking on the subject you bring to the forum. It's addictive to sit and read all the questions and subjects people are thinking of.

Indeed, I find it addictive to hear out others comment on different topics too. I think this is more rewarding than the monetary aspect of it. :-)

I think that if you get into and/or start daffy discussions or become a propaganda for Mylot's sponsors, then they would compensate you well (although I am neither). However, I advise that you regard Mylot simply as an online forum and forget about earnings or ratings.

Indeed, I like mylot for its interactive nature and excellent platform to share ideas and thoughts. This discussion was started purely out of curiosity. It would still be nice to know, then again, it is better for mylot not to disclose since people will try to beat the system and the nature of discussions might not be the same anymore.

This is fascinating. It is always a little hard to not know exactly how you are making money. I understand that they do that so you can't scam the system, but it means that you don't know where to apply your efforts either. Then the question comes down to, if you have a discussion that has more replies does that get you more money? What about more rates? Does rating really effect earnings?

I do not notice any difference whether the discussion has more replies or not. Maybe my topics are not 'hot' enough to be rewarded. Hopefully someone else who has more experience in mylot can fill us in on this.

This is very interesting. I try to reply as much as I can but I also try to starts new discussions. I don't know what brings more money. The only thing left for you is to try not doing anything and see how much money would you get for people replying to your discussion.

I did that for two days mainly because I was curious to see why my earnings differ from the number in the brackets beside my name. During the two days, I found that replies to my discussions did not add to my earnings (nor the digits in the brackets) but the good news was that my earnings eventually caught up with the number in the brackets. :-)

As I was replying your message, another thought came up. I then noticed after I posted the previous comment that replying to a comment in a discussion I started does not increase the number in the brackets, which I take it to mean that it does not increase my earnings.

I find that I do earn from starting new discussions, but I think there is a delay or something. Because if, in a month, I do the same number of responses as I did the previous month but I do more new discussions, I make more. I think it also depends on how many responses a discussion gains.

Hey I thought myLot paid more for starting a discussion than responding to discusssions. Guess I was wrong. Maybe I should also experiment so that I can know know the best ways to earn more money. But uploading images have more value, from what one of my friends said. And by the way, are lengthy discussions(or posts) paid more than ordinary posts?? I read this in some discussion. So If you come to know, kindly let me know. Cheers..

I've also been experimenting trying to observe how earnings are calculated. Like what you did, one day just posting responses to other people's discussions and another day adding comments only to those who replied to my discussions. 'Though I wasn't really that successful to analyze it because I failed to stick in doing either responding to discussions or making new discussion or adding comments only. Adding an image to a new discussion that you start will sure give u 1 cent. Responding to discussions let's u also earn but I'm still not sure how much. I'm also not 100% sure about adding comments. It seems like there's no earnings if you add a comment to your own discussion but adding comment to other's discussion seems to count but I still need to find out further. However, based on myLot FAQ's, your earnings will increase by using myLot, posting discussions, responding to discussions and posting quality content.
