Here in Northern California, we have earthquakes about once a month that I can feel. The first couple of years here it was scary, but not any more. I just hope there is never a big one. Is there any earthquakes near your home?

Let me see. I have felt 3 earthquakes that I can recall. The first one was back in '83 or '84 when I was living in the Bay Area. The second one was the big quake of '89. Fortunately, I was living in the Sacramento area by this time, though I still felt it pretty good for being far away from it. The third one I felt was back in '95, I believe. Again I wasn't near where it happened, but I still felt a small jolt. Where in Northern California do you live that you feel earthquakes so often? I've been here all my life and I've only felt the ones I've mentioned. But then again, maybe it's because I've lived here all my life that I haven't noticed them like you do.

hi sacmon, i was meaning to get back to you... the Hayward Faultline goes under the east bay, that is why we feel earthquakes here. You dont have any faultlines in Sacramento so you are safe. I am familiar with Sac by the way.

Wow, I would agree that to know that fact where you live I would initially be hesitant to even want to live there. But I guess, you could weigh the pros and cons about living in your area. I'm sure you are used to the earthquakes that comes where you live. We have just experienced an earthquake last week here in my country. Some parts experienced a really strong one, some parts of the country didn't feel much.

oh, you had a quake there in Philippines then? I think your area is possible, and typhoon too there. Everyplace has its dangers, I dont live near a big building, but downtown there is big tall buildings. I dont want to be there if it happens, and later there can be shortage of food and water if it is bad. we also have fires here in california.
