license to sin!

There was once a man who claimed to be a Christian. He said, he is sure of heaven because he had received Christ in his heart. And since God cannot lie with His promise of eternal life to those who received Him, he used it as an excuse to indulge in sin... The Question is: Is he really a Christian?

No, this man is not a Christian because if he thinks that sinning is OK, he has not truly received Christ in his heart. If he had, then he would struggle to conquer his tendencies towards sin rather than indulging in them. Besides that, nobody can ever really be SURE of heaven because no mere human can presume to know the mind of God. We can have a strong faith that we will end up there, but that is not quite the same thing. If he were a true Christian he would know that too.

Thanks. I read from 1 John 5:13 that we can know if we are saved!

Was there not a verse that Paul quoted, "shall I sin that grace may abound?" and the answer was, "no" So if a man uses an excuse to indulge in sin and claims to be a Christian, he is a hypocrite and pretending to be a Christian. This is much difference from fighting against something and wishing you did not have to do that again.

That is not yours to judge! What about all the people who are walking around who truely believe in predestination? What if they cannot read for themselves and can only go by what their preacher taught them? Should you judge them? Almost all churches today teach that if you accept Christ as your personal savior all your sins are forgiven even if you sin again all you have to do is say it again. As a Jew I find this Alien, but I have no right to judge. My people have been and still are being killed because we do not believe the way other people do. If nothing else, it has taught us that it is very wrong to judge.

It's good to hear from a Jew like you. And I appreciate your comments here. Let me tell you my friend that I don't judge people. It is God's Word that judges! Who am I to judge my fellow men. Have you read the Bible? It's mostly about the Jewish people who are very special in God's eyes that He consider them the apple of His eyes.

So what you mean, it must be proven with action rather than just coming from the mouth, right?
