New Years Resolutions

December 3, 2007 5:00am CST
I know it's a bit early to be thinking about them but I am anyway. I thought about all the other ones I made last year and how many I actually kept like losing weight and stopping biting my nails. Obviously there are some, like stopping smoking that i'm still working on and I'm betting I'm not the only one lol. So my fellow Mylottters, how many resolutions did you manage to keep and what are you thinking of making a resolution this year? For me, my new years resolution is going to be stop scoffing so much chocolate and sweets and finally quitting smoking once and for all.

Hi Bixmom, I'll be rooting for you too. I know what you mean about hating the feeling that you haven't gotten something done, it's one of the few things that drive me nuts and will do until I complete whatever I started. I really hope you manage to get your house all finished just the way you want it! Thanks for replying :)

I used to make resolutions but decided the best one I could make was to stop making resolutions in the new year :-)

Hey RecycledGoth, I think that next year that's exactly the resolution I may make myself lol. Sometimes these resolutions are harder to keep and I always feel like I let myself down if I don't manage to reach my goal that I set myself. Thanks for replying!

i don't do resolutions anymore. mine used to always be the same - lose weight! and i never was motivated enough to do it. horrible, haha. so last year i didn't make a resolution - and i actually lost weight over the year! about 20lbs from around june until october. good luck with your resolutions though!

Hey Leslie, It can be hard getting yourself motivated once the initial determination to do it has passed. I found it really hard going with losing weight and stopping biting my nails this year. I kept finding excuses at first to put off losing weight until my hubby mercilessly dragged me out to the park to start running around a bit and while I snarled at him at first, I'm glad he did because I feel much better. Maybe a friend could do the same for you? Congrats on losing 20lbs though, that's pretty awesome :) I lost two stone that I'd put on the year before when I went to america and went mental on the chocolates lol. (well I WAS on holiday and those chocolates just called to me) I wish you the very best of luck!

The best thing to do is not to call them resolutions...lol...that is just asking for disaster right there. Look at them as New Years ideas that way your not as disappointed in yourself for not fulfilling them. I personally am going on a diet because my husband and I are haing our wedding ceremony in June...Yeah no one knows we are married already...lol...And Im goin to get a Gym membership....there is nothing that can possibly make you feel better than work out endorphins that kick in after you work your butt off. And probably not until after my wedding am I going to quit smoking...I would be afraid I would hurt soemone and turn into a scary bridezilla! Good luck with your new years what ever you wanna call them! :)

Hey there SMWilliams, You have a pretty good idea there, I didn't actually think to change the name of them to stop getting all disappointed if I fail so thankyou for that. I know what you mean about feeling great after a workout. This year I set myself a resolution to lose weight and while I didn't lose as much as I thought I would, I lost enough to make me happy. I really hope that you succeed in your goal and that you have the most perfect wedding day (again lol) that ever existed. Oh and congrats on the secret marriage and the one coming up!

I really apreciate for your decesion on this decision on stop scoffing so much chocolate and sweets and finally quitting smoking once and for all. I wish that you will in succeed in that. I also want to make decision in this coming new year that I also want to quit smoking once for all as I already quit eating sweets long time ago. Please pray that I will have enough income to take care of my family so that I will not have tensions to fall into the temptation of smoking. Ireally need to make a proper decesion. It's really important for me as my healthalso requires proper care. But what can I do I am only humanbeing, not a super human being. So lets hope to see that our decisions th at we make in this coming new year will be followed in this new year. may that unseen god help us. Thank you.

It's never too early and I always think why start new years resolutions on January 1st? Why not tomorrow, tomorrow is as good a day as anything! What is the reasoning about making them on January 1st and not say 15th April! Most of us will of broken them by March 1st anyhow. Ok, take this at my local gym, January and February the gym is heaving, so many people come to join up and there is hardly any room to train, then suddenly March appears and the gym is empty till about October! If I had to make any I would say never get involved in a relationship again and stay single for the rest of my life, but I made that resolution 8 weeks ago now! Others are start swimming again and find a new job Good luck with yours!

Hey Wolfie, Thanks for replying to the thread. You're right lol I never thought about it before but making resolutions on January 1st is a bit wierd, it's not like we can't make them at any other time of year lol. I guess sometimes we get stuck with tradition and forget that theres always the rest of the year to get things sorted out. Thanks again!

ok, there is so many guys taking about resolutions here. Actually, it is hard sticking to the resolutions they made before. but i think your resolutions of losing weight and stopping biting nails are not a big problem. it is said that the genius tends tot bite their nails. Lost weight? if you are not sooooooooo fat, just keep it! somehow, i don't like the skinny woman. through your picture, i found you are not fat. however, stoping to scoff so much chocolate and sweets is a good idea. after all ,excessive sugar is harmful for your body.

I haven't decided exact numbers of resolutions but I think I already have a few in my mind. Like loosing weight, stop smoking, loosing my bad temper, make more money, have a steady job, and I think I sill have more points to think. But those are not official yet until last days of this year coming.

Hello dear definately like to agree with you that you want quit smoking once andf for all. I appreciate that, infact when i am this website I am also smoking. IN fact I just attacked with facial paralysis. I am a diabetic suffering with BP at the age of 42. But what can we do its life. I stopped smoking so many times, but again started due to domestic issues, for example making for survival. So I decided to go for earning on net. Anyway its nice to make decisions in our lives. I also want to quit smoking instantly, that unseen god may help us to quit somoking. Thanking you
