Well, last night Morgana, our cat, did it again. This time she decided to try to convince us that her big, fluffy 21LB butt was actually a little grey mouse. I went into the kitchen to make a sandwich for Hubby and she was sitting on the freezer looking as innocent as you please. I got the bread and noticed a little hole about the size of a dime in the bag. It had been chewed but the bread was intact. Why on earth she'd chew a hole in the bread bag, I don't know. She has two bowls of food and gets tuna off and on all day. I've started keeping the bread in the microwave but I've caught her a time or two up on the counter looking for the bread LOL Has your pet ever done anything like this? What kind of crazy things have your cat/dog done? MERRY CHRISTMAS!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Uh oh. When my little dog was still alive we took her with us one evening to go drop a payment in the drop box. Well, she got in the back of the car and was being really quiet and we didn't think anything of it. When we got home I saw something on her mouth and when I felt it it felt like caramel or something. I said what in the world. Well, my hubby had a thing of those Rolo candies and the dog had eaten all of them plus the paper and we never even heard her doing it. I said she is too sneaky. So I called the vet and the vet told me to try to give her some peroxide to make her throw it back up. She tried to bite us when we tried to make her drink it. We got a little bit in her but she never did throw up and she acted fine. Then one time I had a candied apple I had bought at walmart that was still in the hard plastic wrapper. Well, I laid it on my bed not thinking anything of it and went to get something and I came back in my room and saw red stuff all over my comforter. I said what is that. Well, Gabby was sitting on the floor eating my candied apple right in front of me. I took it away from her and she just walked away like she hadn't done anything wrong. She had eaten through that hard plastic too so she had some sharp little teeth. LOL

My cats are pretty disciplined. They don't do much food raiding of my food. However, the kitten will raid my older cat's food dish, at which point I have to take it up so she can't get to it. Chewing through a bread bag? Not quite sure. Maybe she was bored.

my cats will all chew plastic like bread wrappers if i don't watch them,my bread is in the fridge for the same reason. i try to keep it away from them,as well as the plastic supermarket bags which they will also try to get. as far as sandwiches go-a fluffy cat of mine (who has since passed) decided one day to help my mom eat her tuna sandwich.while she was eating from the top,he was on her lap nibbling from the bottom, unnoticed.when we pointed it out to her,she said "well, you might as well have the sandwich". at that point,he decided he no longer wanted it,and walked away LOL.

laughing - rolling on the floor laughing
Oh my, is this the same cat that had the candy wrappers under the couch? Wow, she sounds funny and I have no idea why she would chew a hole like that in the bread wrapper, but it makes for a good story and if she does many things like this, maybe you ought to write a book. If I could, I would buy it for a good laugh..

Haha. We have five cats (!!!) so there are some crazy stories with just tripping over the cats. We keep the dry food in a plastic container under the sink. We came home one day and there was cat food EVERYWHERE. One of our cats (I believe it was rupert) had not only gotten into the closet, but he took the entire top of the container off, and there was cat food IN EVERY ROOM! They had full bowls of it too! One time, he locked us out of the house, that was pretty amusing. Plus, he loves to be in the bathroom when I'm using it. It's a little creepy trying to shower ot pee and there's a furry cat face staring at you haha. Oh! And my other cat, Tucker, we came home and he was on the floor cuddling with something. We tried to see but he wouldn't let us. Eventually we shooed him away, and it was a can of wet food. A SEALED can! haha. he was just going to town, snuggling up with it.

Actually we've had our new puppy for about two months now and she hasn't touch a thing. I find that more strange then if she had done something like your cat did. She actually doesn't touch anything that is not one of her bones or toys. She is the perfect dog. We left her alone for the first time in the house not confined and she didn't touch a thing of ours. We have worked her up to being alone for 6 hours straight and still she hasn't touched a thing. Not one shoe has been chewed, not one coushon out of place nothing... I never heard of such a thing before. I guess I just got lucky... She's a good dog.

That's hilarious!!! My smallest cat - Moses loves to tear into the new bags of cat OR dog food before I can get them put up. Drives me bananas. But the other day when I brought some groceries home - I had left them laying in the floor for a bit. When I came back in there my egg noodles had been ripped opened!!! I couldn't believe it!! He's never done that to food before. And why on earth egg noodles? I knew it had to be him though because the other cat doesn't do that sort of thing.

A lot of cats seem to like to chew open bread bags... not sure why they like the bread so much, but I have several friends whose cats have done that too! Maybe it's just because it's soft and squishy and fun to attack and play with?

I keep bread in fridge cuz of roaches - I keep bread in fridge cuz my house is prone to roaches.
I keep my bread in the fridge. * When I had cats they used to do the same thing. Now that I'm in Prescott, bread goes bad at the snap of the fingers. Now I have roaches to deal with, and they are even worse than mold or cats. Yech!

We also had a cat that ripped open the bread bags and we also had to keep it away from her but in a breadbox on the benchtop but if you went away for a minute or two while making lunch she would grab the bag onto the floor and make a right mess. Another cat we had was a ginger stray kitten who loved to bring home ducks, anything else that he could herd up the pathway, and also climb through neighbours catdoors and bring home the meat that was left out to thaw while he was at work, a delightful rogue of a cat and sadly got run over and killed. We replaced him with another stray cat which was found up a lamp post she was a beautiful white one which loved to climb up to anywhere there was water and play in it, she loved the taps turned on so she could put her paws under the running water and she also loved to take a bath with you, which was not to my liking at all. She produced beautiful kittens which caused havoc around the place so had to farm them out to family and friends but kept one who used to 'talk' to you (certain mews were very much like words) and when she was pregnant she was the most whiney cat I had ever heard, I was really pleased when she had her kittens. I have always had a kitten or two in the home and even growing up but now live in a little flat where no animals are allowed, but I still have my memories of all the kittens and cats who have brought pleasure into my life. GOD BLESS YOU ALSO THIS CHRISTMAS

One of mine goes nuts when I bring home a bag of dry cat food. It doesn't matter how much is already in his bowl, he will attack the bag! My daughter put the empty bag out on the porch one time to take it to the trash can and next thing we knew it was in pieces all over the yard!

Forrest my fat boy - Forrest would eat anything he was not suppose to
I think Morgana loves the plastic bag and not the bread. We had a 20lb cat who ate ribbon, silk flowers, candy wrappers, and anything else he should not have. He was terrible it had nothing to do with how much food he got. He would eat pieces of wood YUCK, spider webs. My fat boy ate so much he got sick and scratched the back of his throat vomiting.

Our female cat does the same thing. She will eat anything that is bread - white, wheat, banana bread... We have to defrost our bread on top of the fridge then keep it in a cabinet.

Morgana sounds just like every cat I have ever known lol. I don't know why she chewed the bag but I have a horrible theory. Skip this bit if you are squeamish You have been warned Right, here goes. Shops leave the bread outside and mice and birds run all over it. She was probably trying to get at the livestock she could smell. Horrible, isn't it! Thomas my cat was seen licking his chops one day and my partner asked what he had been eating. He hadn't been eating, he had managed to get his head about 3/4 of the way into a mug and siphon off the milk I had left to cool so that I could enjoy warm milk! All without disturbing anything, tipping the cup (something I can't manage half the time!) and without us even knowing he had been near it. I put the rest of the milk into his dish and the little so and so wouldn't touch it!

My younger dachsund has a habit of unrolling toilet paper off the roll. She will put it out of the bathroom. I have found a trail of it in the bedroo, several times. I have to keep the bathroom doors closed. One time while I was cleaning the downstairs bathroom she snuck in a pulled the toilet paper all the way out into the livingroom.

I've had bread eaters - not just chew a hole, but gnaw on the bread too. We don't dare leave anything out for fear of what the cats will do to it.
