Riding Bicycles In The Snow?
December 7, 2007 3:33pm CST
It is pouring down the snow. We have at least 3 inches on the ground. WE had more but some of it melted. The road is slushie and slick. I just now saw three boys on bicycles going up the road in that slush. They were having great difficulty getting anywhere. I just watched out the window and laughed. Why do kids do this? Have ever done it?

Sounds like something that my children would do! I think it's just that kids love to get out and see how fast they can go in the snow. I remember my son trying to go down the hill by our house several years ago on his skateboard in the snow. He abou broke his fool neck.

They probably do it because someone told them they could not do it. Why do kids do anything, LOL? It is hard to bicycle in the slush, I have tried it, a long, long time ago. I guess if it there only "wheels" they will try their best to use it. Have you ever tried it? I bet they are keeping warm just from the exertion.

Hello dear village anne. It is very difficult to ride on a slippery road when the road is icy because of the snow. There were a few times when I saw bicycle-riding people fall down off their bicycle on the street years ago. It so hurts once you fall down on an icy road with the melting snow. I hope that the boys you saw riding on their bikes are just ok and safe. Thanks for your discussion.
