This may sound strange to you, but we Sri Lankans never say Goodbye in Sinhalese. The parting word we use is "Ayubowan", which means 'may you have long life'. Some of our people mistakenly translate the phrase "Until then, goodbye" and say it in Sinhala. But in Sinhala what you say is "Until then, may you have long life", and you are supposed to die after that.
