My three year old daughter was looking through a toys r us ad, and like most kids that age she was saying "i want that and that, and that". So i decided to ask the question, is there anything you don't want? and without hesitating she just blurted out, yeah i don't want a stepmom or a stepdad. she blew me away, and it let me to believe that she picked it up from watching television,so now i'm wondering if that was good or bad?

not only tv, it is also what my kids see that their other friends have (in regards to christmas) but in regards to every day life, i agree, there is a lot of garbage on tv these days!

I think parents need to be very particular about what they let their kids watch on TV. Very young children should have very limited access! They should be encouraged to use their imaginations instead. I don't know what she was watching where she picked up that bit of information about step-parents, but we're not all bad! Unfortunately, there are so many blended families today, and it is hardest on the kids. I see it in my own children, one (step)daughter has two kids by one dad, and one by another, and is with neither one right now. It causes a lot of conflict.
