She'll Get No Presents for Christmas

That is the statement that one of my clients made today. She has family, but they do not exchange gifts. She is on an limited income and cannot buy gifts for her family either. Sadly, the dynamics in this family are very poor. Because the dollar stores have such a great selection and of course you can't beat the price, I will be able to buy her a couple of things to put under her little 3-foot tree. No, it won't be much, but at least she will have something to open on Christmas day. Blessings to you and yours this holiday season.

I feel so badly for her. My mom is the same way; can't afford to send gifts to her loved ones and is all by herself. I'm sending her something so she'll have a present to open. I think that's a great idea about the dollar store; am going to try to get a few things for her from there as well. She lives in such a small place. You are the greatest for thinking of others who are less fortunate. God Bless.

The gal I am buying things for is a pack rat. Her apartment has only 2 rooms. I bought her things that she needs like spices, paring knives, and a couple of votive candle holders. I told her that the things I bought for her were things that I knew she needed.

What a wonderful person you are! I expect she will be so pleased and over the moon by your generous act, see it's the thought that counts, she will probably get as much pleasure out of your present that someone would getting a present worth $thousands. Not only that the loving karma you send out will return to you doubled. Great to see this act of generosity, blessings to you too my friend.

I brought the gifts to her last week, Tuesday. She was delighted to see the little boxes under her small tree. I told her that I would be back this weekend and reminded her that the gifts were not to be opened before Christmas. She giggled like a child.

You are so sweet for doing that. I love the dollar store. I actually bought a few things there to make some bags with for some people for Christmas. You can get some nice things there.

You are such a generous person. The cost of the gift matters Not. You're faced with stress of your own and yet here you are thinking of someone yet less fortunate. There's a place in heaven for you my friend!!!

You will certainly make her Christmas a little brighter. Sometimes the smallest gifts are the most welcome. Too bad her family is not what it should be.

that is very kind of you! I love the idea of people you dont know so well taking the time to get you something nice.... =] I'm sure she'll appreciate it,you can buy some lovely stuff from the dollar store. personally, i think the less presents you get the more you appreciate them... for example, when i was younger and my parents bought me everything i wanted and spent over £300 on me alone ($600) and not including my brothers, it was a given i'd have loads of presents and when my parents told me we'd have to cut down i was very sad... but then it wasn't so bad as I realised christmas isn't about presents! it did me a whole lot of good... as i became a teenager gifts became less significant, but the thought counted and now i appreciate my parents sending me little things like a donation towards my text books or a giftcard for a book store/ coffee store a lot! everybody who gives me little things- even if it's some cheap fluffy slippers or a plushie is thanked from the bottom of my heart because now i have less, it all means more!

she is not the only one who will not be getting any presents for Christmas. there are many people out there who will get nothing for Christmas. i think that we have forgotten what Christmas is all about. Christmas is about giving, sharing, spending time with family and friends and most importantly remembering Jesus. so keep that i ming s=next time you hear someone is getting nothing for Christmas because you could give therm the perfect gift as a friend.

It's pretty sad when this happens. Too many poor, lonely people, especially the elderly, go without on Christmas Day. Some are not so poor, but have no family that care. It is wonderful that you think of these people. When this elderly woman opens her present, she will be grateful, not because she has a gift, but because someone thought of her. My daughter bought two toys for the Salvo Christmas tree.

My husband says that I am trying to do too much for the people I work with. I somewhat agree with him. Last week I realized that I my intentions are good, but time is little to do the things I want to accomplish. I have to choose amongst those who are most needy. That is hard for me to do.

Geez, I wish I could get you to come to my parents house and work for them. They refuse to have anyone in to help them. I live over 300 miles away and I can't. My father can barely walk without falling and my mother has to do everything. Plus my father is a very demanding man and does not make it easy for anyone. To have someone who cares so much for her clients must be a gift to everyone you work for. have a Merry CHristmas -- you deserve it.

I hope that your parents will get the help they need soon. Getting them to admit they need help is one of the toughest things to do. Big Huggers to you.

yeah. lots of family here in phil. had the same problem. our president says that our economy had improved already but i dont think so, coz lots of family here is dying with hunger and lack of shelter. how will they celebrate their holiday this december when they dont have nothing??? how will they be happy when they starve? how will they live when no one cares? sad to say but to them theres already no christmas I remember a qoute from someone, some poor old man i know, he said "ang christmas ay para lamang sa mayayaman" which means christmas is only for the rich and not for the poor. i hope that theres a lot of good people that would help them, coz it aint easy to celebrate christmas with only love in our hearts and have nothing to eat for almost a days.

As soon as I read the beginning of the discussion, I knew it was not true. Even though we have not ever met except online, I know you as a loving and caring person who would not let that happen at all.I was in charge of making Christmas happen at a nursing home one year. We relied on donations and dollar purchases, but even those who had no family or were guardians of the state had gifts. Some out of the pockets of the employees. I think the time you spend with your clients is probably as much a gift as anything, but you cannot leave it under the tree to be unwrapped, so it is great that you can find some little things to make an old heart happy. Merry Christmas, friend.

It's sad that this is how many families will be spending their christmas, unable to buy gifts or really celebrate it as they'd like to, without the money to.. I'm also sad to say, this was almost how my family was going to spend their first christmas in this house. It's only because I got a job that we're going to be able to have a few presents and a real dinner. It's a wonderful thing, you helping her a little. Getting her something. Very sweet and nice of you. I wish every family like hers had someone who would do that for them, everybody deserves a happy christmas. =)

++ for you for doing what you did. There is a program here called the Angel tree. There are paper cut outs of angels on the trees of childrens' names and what they want. Most of the time, it's something practical such as a new island Barbie or a new pair of shoes in X size. I've done the Angel tree now going on 10 years and I'll be doing it this year again. I've selected 3 gifts: A new Barbie, a few coloring books and some colors and a new backpack for school. I'm going to get all those items, and probably a few more for the kids I selected. I don't know how you get your name on the Angel tree, but I know I help brighten 3 kids' lives once they see their presents on Christmas. I have to drop them off at the local police station, wrapped with the tag from the Angel tree on the top of the present.

Yes go to the dollar tree we are blessed with several in my area . They got wonderful gifts for $1.00 . I suggest you make a bath shower basket can complete for under $10.00 at dollar stores in our area . How about coffee or tea in a nice coffee mug ? Or how about a nice candle arrangement ? See gifts from the heart truly can work and create memories that last will past the holiday season .
