Is High School Musical 1 worth seeing? Have you seen it?

I guess I'm quite a bit behind on the "newer" movies and I haven't seen High School Musicl 1 yet. I'm wondering if it's worth taking the time to watch. It's not my usual movie genre but in a way it looks like something I might enjoy. Have you seen it yet? What did you think about it? Are you recommending it to your friends and family? Is there a story to it or just a lot of kids singing and dancing?

Not unless you're a kid. or you want your brain to hurt. Kids are fascinated with it and I guess some adults with kids are too but I watched it and it hurt me. I mean, it was just lame. There's a slight story but it's total musical where they're busting out in song at every turn. It's ridiculous. I'm saying no. Don't torture yourself.

Ha ha well thanks for the confidence in my opinion! I like a lot of kid stuff, but there are some things that I can't even get into. Hannah Montana (aka Miley Cyrus) is another one. Her concert tickets are selling for like $1200 on Ebay. I watched the show the other day and heard her sing for the first time and I can not stand her voice!

it isnt a bad movie.. if you like the singing and dancing you should have no probs with it... the only thing that i dont like about high school musical is that they take the breaks to learn the steps and what not... takes away from the movie i think... it should be at the beginning or at the end of it

I'm sure having teenage daughters you would have seen it or at least had to listen to it...lol. You're right....the first one is always the best one.

I hate to be such an old dragon, ctry, but I have had no desire to get "up close and personal" with the high school set, LOL. It might be enjoyable, but I don't think it's for me. I tend to favor action genre movies over any other these days.

I have seen both of the HighSchool Musical movies. They are cute. It is nice to have a movie my children can watch without violence and bad language yet the movie is still good. There is a storyline to the movie too so it keeps you interested. The main character his dad wants him to play basketball and be the star but he wants to sing and the movie is about how you can do both.

Any movie that is suitable for kids these days has to be a good movie as far as I'm concerned. They are so few and far between.

My kids were all about this movie. So, one day I decided to watch it with them and I thought it was good. So, when the next one came out we watched that together but I think the first one was better. It is not just all singing and dancing there are moments for actually dialog.

I haven't seen it myself. My daughter has though and she loves it. I bought her the board game and the soundtrack for Christmas. If I can come up with the money I'll buy her the movie also. I believe there is an actual story behind it. I should watch it and find out.

I like the movie. Pretty much for teens but I like the music of the movie and the actors. Theres definitely a story with a mix musical part on certain scenes but the musical part is nice too. Just take a time to watch it. If not try to watch the full trailer. You might like it.

My daughter is seven, almost eight years old and watches the Family Channel constantly. Her favorite movie of all time is High School Musical. When earlier this year the Family Channel announced that they would be airing High School Musical 2 she was elated and looked forward to the premiere all summer. In the time leading up to the HSM2 premiere, Family Channel played all the different varieties of HSM: the dance-along edition, where they selectively interrupted the movie to teach the dance routines, the sing-along edition, where they run song lyrics on the bottom of the screen, and the popup edition, where the movie is run and interesting tidbits about the production popup along the way. My 19-year-old niece watched HSM1 with us this summer, and she said that she thought it was a really good quality movie for the younger set. I believe that the target market is really the tween and younger teen set. That said, my pre-tween daughter and all of her grade 2 classmates are huge HSM fans. They all adore the movie. My daughter was a little disappointed with HSM2, because she found the songs weren't as good and at the start there wasn't enough drama. I personally enjoyed HSM and I am happy to watch it again with my daughter. My favorite version of the movie is the popup edition, because I enjoy hearing about all the quirky things that happened and about all sorts of trivia and traditions that happened on the set. I would recommend seeing the movie, if you are in the mood for light viewing and understand the target market. The songs are good in both movies, and I enjoy listening to the soundtracks and even singing along. The dancing is much more elaborate in HSM2 than in HSM1.
