My kitten doesn't like pat?

When I try to pat(not sure if it's right word) my kitten, which is less than 2 months old, it starts attacking me: biting my fingers, scratching etc.. Does anyone know why it does that? And how to teach it, not to bite when someone wants to pat it? xD Thanks

You're working with a little baby that just wants to play! Try to use a soothing voice and gently pet they're head, nothing hard or playful cause they'll take it the wrong way and start play time. Maybe try playing with them to tire them out a bit and then try. Early ages are when you develop their comfortableness with anything. Let it be grooming, clipping, petting..so keep at it! A kitten is like the energizer bunny they want to play and play some more, its hard to get them to calm down. If you have a kitten, you need to accept the fact that your hand will be full of little "love" scratches all the time! lol

Thanks for answer. Kitten is still too small to do scratches, unless I'm trying to pull my hand and it's still holding it, then small stratches apper, but itself it can't make scratches. It's impossible to make him tired, he plays all the time, when he want's something he just starts running even when you try to play with him (excluding sleeping), when it gets tired it just doesn't play as energetic as before, but it never stops. I tried tiring it out, it just bites my finger and fells asleep without shoutin the mounth, then it's hard to wake it up, I can put his front legs (arms) behind hes head, and he wont wake up. Once had incided that it felt asleep while drinking milk.. Thanks God I noticed -.-

It was little too dark, and my camera in mobile phone doesn't like dark places, since kitten was sleeping I didn't want to turn lights on and wake it up. But here's it's picture xD http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/6387/image005bx8.jpg

Your kitten thinks you are playing with it. If you are wanting to pet him, wait untill he is sleepy and calm then stroke him. A kitten wont stop playing just because you want him to. They have lots of energy and life. They will continue being a kitten for at least one year, then they will start to mellow.

I think it feels that you are attacking her. Even my second cat also does not allow me to touch her on her body or leg.

Cats are more into being stroked than patted rather like how the mother would lick them to clean them.

Nice kitten :) May be you can try to touch him while giving him milk.Try it slowly.First just brush your hands on him as if acidentally.May be after some days it may get used to it,and may allow you to pat. Cheers!
