I actually heard about this a few nights ago, about this woman who has 42 Christmas trees every year. She starts decorating in around late September to get all the decorations and trees up, and up until about March to take them all down. Here's more about it:(Quote) ..."Cindy Johnson never decorates her Lyndon Township home for Halloween or Valentine's Day or Easter. How could she? During that time span, she's busy putting up or taking down Christmas decorations. She decks the halls with 42 trees, as well as a large collection of other decorations, in what amounts to a six-month challenge. She started buying dated ornaments in 1975. When she ran out of room on the tree for more of those, she decided to buy another tree, then another and another. (Who says a house can have only one tree?) People have given her their old trees, and she calls these cast-offs her Charlie Brown trees. Each room of the small ranch - except for one of the two bathrooms - is heavily decorated, including the basement."I have a very understanding husband," she said. "But deep down, I think he loves it just as much as I do."Her largest tree takes prominence in the family room, and is 7.5 feet high. The smallest - and the one she's not sure she should even count except that she does decorate it with its own teeny ornaments - is 6 inches. Most of the smaller ones are 2 feet high. Each tree has a theme, which could be Winnie-the-Pooh or romance or cartoon characters..." The full article is here and even includes a video http://www.mlive.com/holidays/index.ssf/2007/12/christmas_trees.html Now girls and boys, I love Christmas too, but 42 trees? Like how does one move around in that house? Would you want to have so many trees? I mean yes, she definitely gets into the Christmas spirit but isn't this a bit overboard??

Really? That's strange. Why would somebody want to put up lots of Christmas trees? She probably doesn't have much to do with her time. Or she's probably lonely and the trees keep her company. I really can"t find the right explanation for her strange Christmas spirit.

Wow, that is insane! I love Christmas, and I love Christmas decorations, but I seriously do not think I could deal with putting up 42 trees! That is insane. We can barely manage to put our two trees. We put up a white tree with red decorations, just as a pretty one, and then we have a main tree, a green one that we use for gift giving and what not.

She must have an awful lot of patience that's for sure. The job I hate the mosts...putting lights on, so can you imagine putting lights on 42 trees?? Yikes

I'm not sure if it's the same lady but I've heard of something like this before - one I heard of keeps them up all year long though. I was amazed when they toured her house that it didn't look cluttered at all. Personally I think that would take away from the whole 'preparing for' Christmas though - that putting up the tree is one I look forward to every year.

I actually do have a very small artificial tree up all year long in my bedroom..to have a bit of Christmas all year long, in fact one corner of my room is the Christmas corner..LOL I still like to get the real tree for the living room a few weeks before Christmas

Well I guess everyone is entitled to their own passion and hers just happens to be Christmas. She must be a very remarkable woman with a lot of patience, and her husband has to be equally as remarkable. It does make me wonder wha she does to occupy her time in the off season...:}

Heehee...in the video she says she lives with four cats, one dog and a very clumsy husband..LOL Yes, off season must be kind of boring for her and yes, she must have a lot of patience..don't ask the language I use to put lights up on a tree...my most despised part of tree decorating..and that's just with ONE tree

That might be a tad overboard, even for me lol. Although I do have two Christmas trees, on downstairs that is a real tree, and an artificial one up stairs in the common room, well actually 3 if you count my 2ft wooden carved tree, but it does have lights, that on is in our bedroom. However, I do add to my decorations each year. And although I decorate every room with at least a little touch of Christmas, I end up doing it differently each year. I didn't start collecting any dated ornaments until 2005, that is when I got a new start with a wonderful man, so I wanted a dated ornament for each year we're together. And I do collect snowmen, and snowwomen lol.

"A tad overboard"??? Try obsessive-compulsive! That woman needs to see a professional... Putting up 42 trees, starting in September and lasting until March before they're all down, has nothing to do with Christmas Spirit. If anything, I would think it thoroughly crushes any sense of specialness about it.

You're right BarbaraPaz, think this woman does have some kind of obsessive compulsive disorder..LOL oh, yes, palonghorn, having 42 trees is definitely a "tad" overboard....hehee

She is very much attached to material world. In the other hand, she lives in total illusion between her well decorated Christmas trees. If this makes her happy, good for her....

From what I gather her house isn't all that big. Wonder how they are able to have room to walk around? The video says she has four cats and one dog too. Wonder how she keeps the cats from climbing up..or worse the dog from peeing on them...LOL

whoa!!! 42 Christmas trees!!! this is way too much!!! some people really know how to over do it. Christmas is a special time but trees should have to suffer the consequences for our decorations each year. aren't we already taking enough from this earth?

I don't think they're real trees but artificial ones. Real trees just wouldn't last that long, from September to April when she has them up

That's kind of "the same only different" like those who hoard cats and dogs, only this is much better in that no innocent animals are abused or neglected by someone who thinks she's doing good by them. 42 trees? I can't even fathom having enough room for that many and I can only imagine how frustrated I'd get decorating all them! My language wouldn't be pretty, I can guarantee that...those #$*^**# lights! Hi pyewacket! That is a lot of work putting it up and puttilng it down. haha..Although I love decorating my christmas tree, I could only have the patience to decorate one for my home. Even if I have a bigger home where I can have more than one tree, I would still just have one. LOL! Personally, I wouldn't want more than one tree or 42 trees at that. LOL! Take care and have a nice day!

Interesting. I think I would leave them up year round and just add a new tree every year at Xmas. Like one tree for each year of my life. The hard part though would be to dust off all those trees to keep them looking new. Now if those were real trees, that would really be a supreme challenge. lol

She still must have to dust them off when they are up..She starts in September putting the trees up and they're all down in April...yup--bet they're dusty. Uh, real trees? They'd be fossilized by the time she takes them down--LOL

I heard the same news story. I think it is great but I sure would hate to have the electric bill every month. We had a guy here that has 50 christmas trees that him and his family put up every year. He is a city cop and each tree is decorated for all the members of the family of what they like and their interest and his son and daughter in law had adopted a little girl from Japan and they decorate a tree just for her also. Each tree repersent something different, and then he will let the people in town come into his home and visit and take tours and he dresses up like santa for the kids that come to see the decations, it is a really big thing here for the kids.

50 trees? Yikes, yes I can imagine the electric bill would be sky high--kind of nice though that he allows "tours" in his place and dresses up like Santa for the kids

Now, that's what I call keeping the Christmas spirit alive, pyewacket! What a beautiful story. Yes, I would do it if I had the space and the money to afford it, LOL. Christmas is a magical time of the year and wouldn't it be great if we could keep that spirit going all year long! I know there are some Scrooges who wouldn't agree with me on this, but I say, "Bah, humbug!" to them.

Yes she definitely does have the Christmas spirit, but I somehow think 42 trees is a tad much..I could see maybe five to ten trees..LOL. Hey I'm very happy with my one!!! It's a really "special" tree this year :)

That seems like a tremendous fire-hazard! I had never heard that story before, but it certainly is interesting. Better 42 trees than a whole houseful of neglected animals, I guess, as long as she doesn't burn the whole neighborhood down.
