My kids are doing a social studies project on immigration. Since their great great grandpa immigrated from Austria, they thought that it would be neat to do the project about what his feelings were. We have some family stories passed down through the generations, but it would be really neat to translate a couple of the things that he said. The first was upon looking at the statue of liberty: She is the most beautiful woman that I have ever laid my eyes on. The second was: I have left my mother land to arrive in a new country, a land of opportunity and freedom. America has welcomed me. Thanks!!!

This is a great site when you need to translate anything from one language to another. You should bookmark it in case your kids ever need it again. It's simple to use. http://world.altavista.com/

Ok, lg ago but anyway. As altavista translation s***s I am trying a new one. 1. Sie ist die schoenste Frau die meine Augen jemals erblickt haben. 2. Ich habe mein Vaterland verlassen um in ein neues Land zu kommen, ein Land der Moeglichkeiten und Freiheit. Amerika hat mich willkommen geheissen. I bet all these online translations will translate mother land to Mutterland. In fact there is not such a word in german language. In german language it is Vaterland which is translated like father land.
