And they say "Hello ___[user's name]." It gets kinda on my nerves, like a mini-pet peeve. To me, a greeting like that is a given, something you don't have to say. I have a mentalilty, like "Just do it!", "Spit is out!" lol...idk maybe I just like instant gratification. XD

Hello, megumiart. LOL!! just kiding. I normally dont really do that because I belive that if you are writing to someone then you dont need to introduce yourself. But, everyone is differnt and they feel that it might be polite so, hang in thier.

I usually would put hello, then give out my opinion. So really, it depends on the diversity of the people responding to you.

I dont mind either way, but sometimes, like this megumiart, i will add their name into the response, just so they know that i really am paying attention to who and what i'm responding to, cause sometimes i tend to flow off topic when i'm responding. So that way, By stating their name, They know, and I know, that i took the time and the energy to see who i'm talking to. Does that bother you do ? or just the salutations ?

I don't know. It certainly doesn't bother me. I tend to use the name when I'm answering the discussion of someone that I am more familiar with, sometimes. But I really don't see it as a problem one way or another. We're all different anyways, and what seems unimportant to one person might be very important to others, and if that is you pet peeve in here, then that's what it is:)

Now that you mention it, it really isn't necessary, now is it? Plus, when you post here you're posting to everyone, not just the OP. At least, that's how I look at it. Now, for MY mini-pet-peeve - when someone brings up a pet-peeve that I didn't realize was a pet-peeve so I end up with a brand new pet-peeve...thanks a LOT...lol! Annie

I do this to everyone of my FRIENDS.Its a way of being polite and friendly.I do not like it very much when someone just starts a response with, blah, blah.Ive been brought up to say hello to someone and even when its online i feel that i should be polite,im like that and i cannot change who i am or how i start my response, its automatic for me.Its a friendly greeting thats all.Like when i respond to your discussions i start with a "Hi:)",im just saying hello, instead of yah thats how i feel, blah, blah.I put feeling into the hi,or hello.:)If someone does this to me,i feel like they are a nice person to enough greet me,im human with feelings. Its like you would talk to someone on the street and whats the first thing you would say?Hi or hello, right? You just dont start talking right off,you greet them.
