How do you think about lending money to a friend?

Everyone i know says never to involve money in a friendship.Now i have a friend who's in need of 700€.i have the money,but i'm not sure if i should lend him.i'm sure that he will pay me back when he could,but he also owes his parents money now.Honenstly it really worries me that he's not able to get it back.i wann't money ruining our friendship.But i'm upset if i'm able to help him but i'm not.
How do you think about this?Have you ever involven money in a friendship.Please share with me.

only lend it if you are willing to possibily NEVER get it back.
not to say your friend wont pay you back but it happens alot with friends. good luck in your decision.

Actually I'd advice against giving the money too (only from my personal experience). My dad and his friends always borrow and lend and there's no problem there. But I've had a couple of bad experiences there and one of them is not even a friend anymore (thanks to that particular incident).

It would be a terribly hard decision to make. You don;t want to jeopardize your friendship by not loaning him the money, but if you don;t think that you can trust him to pay it back then you would be straining your friendship even more if you loaned it and he didn;t pay it back. I think I would just trust what I felt in my heart in this situation.

I would not lend the money to your friend. Money always seems to have a way of getting in the way of relationships. IF you do choose to lend the money, just plan on never getting it back. That way, if you do get paid back you are happy. If you don't you were expecting it. My dad used to always tell me never to lend anything that I could not afford to give up.
