Do you put off buying the least little thing for yourself at Christmastime?

I'm in dire need of pens as I spoke about a few weeks ago and still not finding any around here. I have this one pen sitting in front of me that is really down to dry and when I've been in a store the last couple of days I've looked at pens and hate to spend the money on them! I have a couple of freebie pens coming in the mail and keep hoping at least one of them will get here...lol...soon!!! The thought that I could use that money for a gift or put it towards dinner for Christmas eve when my kids are here makes me back away from anything I might look at for myself. Do you do the same thing? Are you hesitant to spend any money on something that you really don't need but could use because it's Christmas and don't want to "waste" the money?

Compared with spending money on less important things, I prefer spending money on eating. At least, eating can satisfy me but if I buy something unimportant,I may regret of wasting money.

Actually, we really don't buy things for each other at Christmas b/c we tend to buy things we want throughout the year. Like this month, we bought the new Harry Potter movie, the movie 1408 and the movie Freaky Friday b/c we both really wanted them. Those were our gifts for each other. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I am pretty much like that all of the time. It is hard to make me buy anything, until all of a sudden I have to just blow a fuse and shop, shop, shop. It is hard to turn loose especially at Christmas.

Yep I'm definitely guilty of doing that...I'm down to three pairs of undies that have any amount of elastic left in them and both pairs of jeans have a ripped out knee but instead of buying myself a few much needed "presents" I'm putting everything we have into Presents for others...of course hopefully I'll get lucky and get a K-mart or Walmart gift card from someone to cover my needs lol!

My thing is movies. I'm not allowed to buy movies between the end of november and christmas time. Simply because I may get them for christmas. So that's the "little thing" i would end up buying for myself. I can't though, because it's forbidden! So I guess I do put it off. Though... I discovered this GReAT perfume and I didn't really ask for it. SO I was really tempted to buy it last night. It smells soooooo good. But I have to admit I'll feel odd wearing it, cause it's called "Supermodel" ha ha.

I feel the same way all the time!! not just at xmas time! I will look at a pair of pants or a shirt or bra that i could really use, and i think, well that's such and such an amount of money that i could spend on my daughters clothes, or we could eat something special as a treat.. lol i think i comes with being a mom. You are always looking out for your family and you just put yourself last ont he priority list. At xmas timet hough, sometimes i'll get gift cards. and i am SELFISH WITH tHOSE! lol. or i try tobe. *giggles*

I usually only buy myself something really important for Christmas, ctry, and I do it months in advance. I figure why wait until Christmas to get something that I really want. There was nothing special that I really wanted for Christmas this year-except a TV for my bedroom, but I'm still undecided about that. I've spent a lot of years doing without, so I try not to deny myself anything now if it is in my power to get it.

I am exactly how you just described. I hate to spend or "waste" money at Christmas! I have a hard time spending money on myself any time of the year though. Just yesterday I went to Target and had some digital prints made off of my memory card because I had a coupon that said $3 off premium processing. After they were all printed the lady said that I couldn't use it because it was only for "film" pictures. Nowhere on the coupon did it say that it couldn't be used for digital prints and I said that. She pointed out that it said "premium processing". Like I am supposed to know what in the heck that means! I buy my $3 worth of photos and get in the car, my husband was out there waiting for me. I was mad! I hate wasting money and I wouldn't have had them printed if I had known I couldn't use the coupon. I knew I was over-reacting, because I even said to my husband, "I really hope the time comes that three dollars won't ruin my whole day." He just smiled and held my hand. He knows me well. :)
