The influence of Tarot Cards....

I recently met, for the first time, my Father. I dug up the courage to dig up his past, and make contact. That was three years ago, and we've had time to get aquainted since then. He has come to visit, and I him, now and then. Upon his last visit, he bought me a gift... the first gift my father ever gave me... my very first set of Tarot Cards. And let me tell you, my mother had a fit. (I wonder if that isn't the reason he did it) She got all bent over such a gift, and demanded that I throw them away and swear to never use them. Mom has her religious fears and paranoia, and Father has no belief in God what so ever. Thank God I wasn't raised with the two of them together!! So, what do you think? To Tarot or not to Tarot... What is the big deal???

I say to each his own, read about them and the culture they come from and then make your decision only you know what is right for you to do. Don't go on anyone's beliefs but your own. There is no big deal unless you let it be a big deal. Personally I think Tarot is Tarot and you can either take it with a grain of salt or take it seriously the whole thing is based on what your beliefs are.

I've been using Tarot for several yrs now..I do readings for myself, some kids in my life (including my own), friends and so on and NEVER has it ever been a bad thing...In fact just the opposite...If handled properly (meaning not becoming obsessed with them) when you read a spread and do it with an open mind without rose-coloured glasses (you REALLY need to be able to see with open eyes) you can not only learn alot about yourself (or whoever you are reading for) but the solutitions to situations etc are right there for you ya know.... and congrats on hooking up with your dad too btw...that must have been life altering but I hope its been a positive experience for you :-)

There's nothing wrong with Tarot. They can be a useful tool to get to know yourself better and further your spiritual path. You an be Christian and still use them; although they're often considered more out there, they don't belong specifically to any denomination and there's nothing bad about them. Your mother is probably just a little superstitious because she doesn't know much about Tarot. It sounds like a really thoughtful gift from your dad as it's quite a personal thing to give someone a set of Tarot cards. I hope you use and enjoy them.

I say to "Tarot Card" users, draw from stack and enjoy! This is mainly superstition, so not to be taken as Gospel. I have a Ouji Board at home, as no "bad spirits" have possessed my soul or caused harm in my home. It's all how one perceives Tarot Cards, Ouji Boards, etc., as to how exciting they can be all in the "name of fun." Many countries banned Ouji Boards, due to superstitions of them "being of the Devil", as this has never been proved one way or the other. I do believe ghosts can speak through Ouji Boards, but it's how YOU, the player of the board perceives such paranormal activities. People can be possessed by demons without Tarot Cards or Ouji Boards, so to me, no big deal of having either. There's Parapsychology Degrees people get in college, to become renowned psychics, Tarot Card readers, ghost hunters, etc., so goes to show it's not always fake. Yes, your dad could have bought you the Tarot Cards, just to open you to his beliefs, or maybe to make your mother mad on purpose. I would venture to say he did this to give you a general idea of his beliefs, knowing you as an adult, can form your own open-minded opinions. Enjoy your Tarot Cards and Happy Holidays!
