I grew up right near Chicago in Indiana..so I do miss the snow.. I grew up in Hammond. I remember wading through the snow to get to school. Here where I live now..if the snow goes over the shoe school closes..

they predict over here that we will have white christmas and we do. it's whiter than last year, more snowflakes on the ground and it has snowed since November. I hate winter because of the temperature we can reach minus 40 easily. but white snow is cool, really elegant, until the rain pours and mud accumulates :( anyway tis the white christmas over here

Snow is so pretty to watch as if falls or as it lays untouched on the earth. I understand, though, it can become ugly.. It doesn't always remain untouched and wreckless driving on it can result in many accidents.

Happy Christmas. I love Christmas, but I don't think we will get a white Christmas this year which is a shame because my 2 year old daughter has never seen snow and I think she would love it.

I've never NOT seen a white Christmas where I live now (in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). :P When I was a little kid growing up in Kentucky I know we didn't always have white Christmases, and I remember other people complaining about it. I liked snow for its own sake then, but I don't remember really caring about whether it fell on Christmas. I think I would have rather had it fall on a day I was supposed to be at school so I could have a snow day. :P

Looks like this year for us; will be another green christmas..One doesn't need snow for CHristmas..but something about the crisp white blanket stretching across the earth adds to the ambience.
