Stop depressing me!

It's Christmas eve, I have nothing to show for it. No tree, no presents. Christmas cards from but a few. No turkey, no stuffing, no bird at all. No money. No family to go see(they don't care anymore) Christmas dinner will consist of Lord knows what, we don't have much food in the fridge at all. It's depressing to see the pictures of people's trees and decorations. To hear of the feasts they'll have, of the presents they're giving. To hear of how happy they'll be to see their families this year. It's very depressing as it's never happened to me. I've always had a tree up, always had family, a turkey and presents under the tree. I just want it all to go away.

Okay, since no one else asked this...what happened that caused all of the family loss and everything else? I mean, saying you'll have no food, no presents, no tree and no family? What happened that made this what it is now for you? Hey, I don't have much myself..I've not had my own place for over 5 years now. I have been living with a friend or a family member since then, had sporadic jobs in the last few years and no money to speak of..I am thankful to be alive and even though things may not be as bad for me as they seem for you, there must be some way of feeling better or finding a solution?

Myself and my husband lost our high paying jobs in the summer. It all went downhill from there. Just when we thought we were getting back on our feet last month(I bought a used car for work purposes), I had an accident and I haven't been able to work since then. I don't know how long it will be before I can get back into real work again.

God giveth and taketh away, to see how strong we are to our faith and beliefs and to ourselves being tested for our limits. There is no such problem bigger than the one up above who created. Things happen for a reason and only you can discern that...It is an opportunity to learn and make use out of such experience for a bigger task in life. Anyway, don't let the spirit of christmas get the best of you...There will be more Christmas to come. As a matter of fact, you can even celebrate it even in other ordinary days, just how you see it yourself and your family incorporated to your daily life. Being sorry fo yourself, or wallowing into self pity wouldn't resolve the issue. Instead see the brighter side of life and have hope for tommorrow. Like your breath and life, there is so much to be thankful about life. And your trials will turn too as a grace and blessing in the future.Be thankful in everything, that God let you experience being down for this time, so you will strive to get up on your feet and be successful in the future. Merry Christmas to you and your family, just the same and no matter what situation you are in, remember Jesus loves you as Always!

Thanks. Thoughtful words on a day when no one has called to say hi at all. It's been a hard day but I'm getting through it. The only good thing so far today is getting my site going. It's full of glitches and problems, but it is working.

I am sorry you are so down! The heck with other people! You should be celebrating Christmas the only way you can. Christmas is about what you have not the presents and all the other BS that people make it about. Celebrate with whomever you have with you now and make your own Christmas traditions.

I'll feel better when it's all over. No one ever said life was easy, but I wonder why it has to be so hard at this particular time of year. Must be because it's winter. Thanks for the kind wishes.

I can totally relate to your story. I have three children and and I am a single parent. I work 2 jobs but still had to get my kids cheap dollar store toys. Things will get better. Society has gotten carried away with Christmas. This holiday is supposed to be about the birth of the baby Jesus not gifts. But it is hard to tell children this. Keep your head up.

I can relate I really can. Up until a yr or so ago Christmas was just another day for me.. nothing special.. normally I worked cause there was no reason for me not to. Don't let it get to you though.. its always darkest before the light.. I know that sounds a bit retarded but things will get better. You have to lose a little in order to understand the good when you get it back.
