Does your cat watch TV?

My cats do, but only if it's something they're interested in. My little cat prefers late night TV, especially Jay Leno. If we turn on the TV in the bedroom when we go to bed, she doesn't pay much attention until after the news when she hears the Tonight Show music. That's when she turns and faces the TV, gets in a comfy position and watches the monologue with great interest. Maybe she knows that Jay's a cat lover, too. My big cat seems to like Dr. Phil. He starts fussing around Dr. Phil time in the afternoons and sometimes won't settle down unless I turn on the TV so he can watch. Once Dr. Phil's on, the silly cat will settle right down, watch for a few minutes, then go to sleep. I'm not really sure what that says about Dr. Phil, but I appreciate that he can settle my cat down even when I can't. How about you. Does your cat watch TV?

My cats will watch tv when I leave Animal Planet on. It drives them nuts when they hear other kitties meowing on the tv. One of my cats also meows back at the tv when he hears the birds on the tv.

My son's dogs love Animal Planet. I actually have a cat video with birds and squirrels and lots of outside noises. My cats were totally enthralled with that and couldn't get enough of it for awhile, but then they must have caught on that it wasn't real and they're bored with it now. In fact, I should post pictures of my little one reaching out, trying to touch the birds on the TV screen and both of the cats sitting side by side on their scratching posts watching the "bird movie," as I call it. I'll go look for those. Thanks for the response! (And check my photos to see if I've posted those pictures - I think I know where they are.)

I finally found the pictures of my cats watching their bird movie and uploaded one of the two of them watching together. It's on my profile page. Of course little one is looking at the camera, not cooperating like she was supposed to, but big one is pretty busy watching the TV screen. It was fun to laugh over those pictures again. Thanks for the reminder, cikedo!

My Ashley (my avatar) likes to watch TV. She enjoys things like CSI and Law and Order and different TV shows like that. I think sometimes she just likes hanging out with us while we watch TV. My other kitty, Carlye, doesn't care for tv watching much.

Ashley sounds like my kind of cat. Those are shows I like, too, so she can watch TV with me anytime. Isn't it funny how different cats' personalities are? Just like kids - if they were all alike, you'd only need to have one of them!

Oh, I absolutely agree, sugarfloss. Cats are so smart and probably smarter than we even realize. Sometimes when mine are trying to communicate and I just don't "get it," they look as if they're thinking what a dumb human I am!

We had a cat years ago - back in the mid 70's - black cat named Frank. We didn't have a TV, but Frank loved to sit on the bathroom counter and watch mom do her hair (back when updo's were "in") and he'd sit there and just watch her! Then when she wasn't looking (or so he thought) he'd get up and creep over and drink her coffee out of her coffee cup!

That's so funny! I'm sure Frank thought he was getting away with something, too. I sure didn't know cats liked coffee, unless maybe it had cream in it!

Only sugar! But But he'd lay in the sink for awhile after wards, not sure it it was just more comfortable or he was caffined up and couldn't make it back to his other spot!

My cat is really weird. When im watching tv in my bedroom, she will sleep on the tv, and when im watching in the living room, she will also sleep on the living room tv. But when i switch on my computer, she will start chasing after the little cursor all around the screen.

It sounds like you have a hi-tech cat! I'm guessing you also have a nice, warm TV that she likes to sleep on. Sounds like a nice, cozy spot!

My cat is not interested in watching TV. However, he likes to sleep on the top of the TV set. It is more like his personal bed:)

When she was little my cat loved to watch MTV in the mornings, the music videos. Now that she's 5 she likes the food network and will watch the cooking shows.

Funny! I guess in cat years she was a teenage MTV fan and now she's grown into a more settled, serious, take care of business age, you think? She sounds very smart!

I had a cat a long time ago who couldn't figure out that it was actually himself in the mirror. He seemed to think there was an intruder in the bedroom - and he didn't like that very much, either!
