I go this in an email today and thought that I might pass this on and put in dogs for they are closly related . I think it is awful when they want to kill off the wild life for no matter what kind of wild life we need it even down to the Skunk! lol. So here goes the quote: Soon, hundreds of wolves in the Greater Yellowstone Region could be killed hunted, trapped or gunned down from helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. In some cases, even pups, could be slaughtered. Right now, our team of experts is preparing legal action to stop the killing before it starts. This is the same team who earlier this year stopped Alaska’s grisly wolf bounty program and blocked former Interior Secretary Gale Norton’s last plan to prematurely eliminate protections for wolves in the Northern Rockies. In short, I’m confident that our team can prevail in this fight and save our wolves. To stop the killing, we’re going to have to take on the Bush/Cheney Administration, which is pushing to de-list wolves in the Northern Rockies and to allow Idaho and Wyoming to kill hundreds of wolves. Even worse, under a separate federal proposal that the Bush/Cheney Administration is advancing, many wolves could be killed even before wolves are officially removed from the list of federally protected threatened and endangered species. To save our wolves, we’re going to have to beat wolf opponents like Idaho Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter, who has called for killing all but 100 wolves in his state and says he wants to be one of the first to shoot a wolf. And we’re going to have to stop the State of Wyoming’s plan to kill as many as two-thirds of the wolves in that state -- a plan that calls for aerial gunning and snaring, both of which can cause slow, painful deaths for the animals involved. OF course they ask for donations and I have put the no. in just incase anyone wants too. 1-800-385-9712. Oh my gosh...how distressing it is to read about this. It truly saddens me to think about the blatant lack of respect for wildlife and natural resources within the current administration. The other troubling thing is how they override protests and have a complete lack of accountability for the choices they make and the often devastating outcomes. Thank you for posting this and making Mylotters aware...I sincerely hope there will be a way to intervene..but with the Bush administration in power I have become rather cynical about anyone doing anything to stop them. Good post...thanks Lakota.. Take care, enjoy your camera and continue to take care of yourself. My thoughts are with you my friend, Raia

I know when I say this I just had to put it in here. so many animal lovers here that maybe it can be stopped. what gets me they reput teh wolves back in there several years ago now they want to kill them out dont seem right at all. and no telling what Bush will do. of course it is the ranchers hollering the loudest.and cant blame them to much but the wolves only go after the old and sick or the very young them I would want them to get the babies but they couls hunt down the wrong ones and either put them some where esle of get rid of them but not the whole system of teh swolves for that breaks down natures way. Thank and your welcome hugs and blessings

Your point about the wolves only going for the weak and sick and culling them is a very good one. I cannot help but wonder if Bush is coming down hard on the wolves because he has a ranch...and we cannot forget the good old boys club he is a part of. It is very sad to hear about this...but then he also ordered the killing of ALL the prairie dogs because they carry the risk of Bubonic plague. He does not seem to have any awareness of 'managing rather than destorying' situations...not in his vocabulary. Anyway, good discussion and I appreciate being informed even though as a Canadian I do not know what I can do to assist you in your concerns. Keep up the good work...your pal and supporter.. Raia

I'm way ahead of you there. I happen to LOVE wolves, and I consider the wolf my totem animal. What is so cruel and ironic is that the wolves in Yellowstone were wolves they, the government itself reintroduced to the area, so what kind of morons are these people that now want to kill them. I already signed the petition last night, but glad you are taking such a stand about this yourself
