Do You Have Movies, Music, and Books Well-Organized?

I admit that I can be a slob at times, but there is one area where I am a stickler for organization: My movies, CDs, and books must be organized. What brought me to this discussion is the fact that my ex has been visiting since last week. Now, when it comes to organization, we are total opposites. I have learned to just wait until he goes home to try and restore the order I desire with my media. I never have to worry about the books-he won't touch those. It is a whole different story, however, when it comes to movies and music! Knowing how much this annoys me, I do believe he strives to put things back where he found them, but he usually loses the battle. After a couple of days I usually have everything back in apple pie order. How organized are you? Do you hate it when others are not as well-organized?

I keep my things somewhat organized at least to the point where I know where things are. with my DVD's, CD's and books I keep series together but thats it, i used to try to put them in alphabetical order but that never lasted long, lol.

I don't think they necessarily have to be alphabetized, sassy, in order to be organized. I think grouping things is a very efficient way of organizing them. I do organize my books according to authors, rather than alphabetically.

Oh yes, I am very organized with my DVD's/music/books and can't stand it when my husband goes and even touches one of them...lol And not only does he not put it back, but leaves them out of the case to get dirty or something spilled on them, grrr... And he wonders why the DVD player/tape player doesn't work, he puts dirty DVD's and tapes in the players getting the inside dirty and thus, lessening it's life... (In case you haven't realized, one of my pet peeves..lol)

That is one of the perks of living alone, carmelanirel. I do enjoy his company when he's here, but I look forward to him leaving also. I am a stickler for having a place for everything.

I am very particular and finicky about keeping the things back where they belong.Though my wife is always busy with the household chores and good at things she tends to leave the things and leave them as it it is.I used to pick them up and place them in order.I am teaching my princess the importance of keeping the things in order. Keeping the things well organized is very good for health at first hand. You do not have to loose patience , boil up and shoot your B.P up unable to find the thing where you left.

Well, gabs, I would call that organized. At least they are not thrown helter-skelter all over the place.

I am his worst nightmare. I have a hair-trigger temper and I am well organized. All my VHS and DVD are in alphabetical order and if he wouldn't be allowed to mess them up. And if he did, Everything would stop until the tapes were put back in order. I wouldn't go out with him, eat dinner , anything he wanted to do wouldn't happen until the tapes were back in order. And if he just went out, he wouldn't be allowed to come back in. I have too many tapes and I need to know where they are. I am so organized that I have all my titles that I have on VHS in an index.

D'oh. I just thought of something. If he tells me which tape he wants to see and let me find it for him , his visit would go so much better for him.

While I look upon it as an inconvenience, sarah, I'm not about to allow myself to become undone over it. I fuss. He promises to do better the next time. That's about it.

Well, I only have one of those things organized quite well, and that one thing would be my books. That is no suprise to myself for I hardly ever pick up a book unless otherwise contrusted by my teacher. As far as my music goes, I only have the CDs which I listen to on the daily bases out of place. They are basically in a seperate stack in themselves. The CDs which I seem not to listen to on the daily bases seem to remain on the shelf gathering dust. As far as movies go, I usually look at these every day because I am a movie feen. So, those are not organized.

Never picking up a book, bstinson, is a sure way to keep them well-organized, lol. I also tend to have favorites when it comes to movies and music-which I keep in the forefront.

I am (or rather was) very organized and so WAS my older son. But my husband is the total opposite and he can't see why we (my son and I) need to have things properly organized. I've given up on him and my son has found it easier to go daddy's way and not bother with putting things back in place (forget organization!). Since we live together, I can't keep organizing every day. So, I just let it be...put it in one place and organize it when I am upto it.

I am organized when it comes to movies and a few books. The rest of my house can be a total disaster because I tend to get in a hurry and toss things around. Bad habit and has become worse with age. Find myself hiding things under the beds. All my tons of craft patterns are in plastic containers under one bed and labeled. My skeins of yarn are in plastic containers that are open at the top and stacked so the colors can be seen right away. Sometimes I get a little sloppy with current projects I work on as I always do more than one project at a time. Am also a good one for storing papers that tend to get sloppy but know where all our paid bills and unpaid bills are stored. My husband doesn't complain so guess the house isn't that bad after all...lol

i don't have much books and movies and my music are all on my computer. i do organize my music though, i group them according to their genre and separate them into different folders. and it makes creating playlists easy. ^__^ my things are organized though. i prefer things to be in their right place after i use them and i easily get annoyed when a family member would use one of my things and don't put it back to its place. i would always get angry everytime that happens so they have kinda learned their lessons and don't mess with my stuffs anymore. ^__^

Unfortunately I am one of those creative messy people. No order to my things. The only organization that I have is that my books are separated into genres.

At least that shows you do have a bit of organization inside you, Aurone. I think we all do-it's just hard to see sometimes.

My books are very well organized. But the dvds on the other hand are not. We have them in like 3 different places. We just dont have enough room for all of them in one place. I really need to get some kind of storage rack for them.

lol....I have nothing organized! Nothing at all in my life..lol! Whenever I want or need anything it's like a treasure hunt for me all over my little apartment. I have dvd's, cd's, books and you name it everywhere I can find a place for them. Yes, the funny thing is although I am so disorganized I hate it when other people are to. I get impatient waiting for them to find something.

I don't know how you stand it, ctry! My kids have always laughed at me because I go strictly by the old saying: There is a place for everything, and everything in it's place.

i dont own many cds but all my dvd's and video games are all organized alphabetically and i cant have it any other way.. as for the rest of the house im not too caring as for how clean and orderly it is.. i think a house should look lived in, especially if you have kids.. an organized mess is fine by me unless it comes to titles etc, numbers and names should be in order!! :)

I agree, Canuck! I hate having to search through my collections when I want to enjoy a specific movie or music. I'm not above having an organized mess in my apartment, but when it comes to my entertainment I want it organized.

Growing up in the digital age, most of my music has been digital since I got it. The 30-40 CDs I own are alphabetically organized by artist and then CD on my desk behind my laptop. I keep my books well organized if they're mine, but my school text books are thrown around randomly because they don't interest me. My roommate is generally pretty un-organized but it doesn't bother me, I got used to it with my brothers.

Your organizing skills seem to be very good, Prophet. I take it you are a calm and level-headed person.
