Do you remember last year's winner?

Last night, me and the wife are watching TV, and a commerical for American Idol comes on. My wife looks at me, and says that she can not remember who won last year. The sad part is that either can I. In part, I guess it is because everyone that I wanted to see win got voted off. In some ways, I think that me liking a singer is like the kiss of death. No one that I want to win has ever won (I am not sure if that would have held true for season one which I didn't watch). So do you actually remember who won last year? And if so, did you actually want to see them win?

I believe Melinda won and Blake was second place. I got out of the habit of watching when Chris was voted off. He was clearly the winner anyway. but the night the vote was going that got Chris voted off, I tried all night to vote for him and could never get through to vote for him. I feel it is fixed so they can not get the phone calls when the show wants them gone, they give them less lines or something. My DD says it was Jordon Sparks that won, but I think she was the one that was voted off, yet got a part in DREAM GIRLS wasn't she?

?AHH The record get set straight! LOl I didn't watch it till later in the season. Perhaps I missed her. I think if I was on American Idol, I would be happy to get voted off in the 5-10 spot. It seems so many are ding well that did not win. Chris Daughtery, Elliot Yamin (sp?) Jennifer, I think I heard that the top 5 or so can not do albums and such unless the show approves them. I know Taylor hicks had a CD but I have not heard anything from him since then.

I didn't peek at anyone else's responses so you know I didn't cheat. It was Jordin Sparks!!! Wasn't it between Jordin and a guy? Sad to say, I can't remember. I do remember I didn't actually want to see Jordin win, but wasn't disappointed either. She has a lot of talent for such a young age. I am looking forward to the next season beginning soon! It's sick, but I love the try-outs the most.

Was it Taylor Hicks? I think I might have stopped on that show once or twice, but I didn't pay attention much to it. I've only ever really watched once season. I can't remember who he was up against. I do remember the brouhaha when Chris Daughtry was voted off. I think he should have won because as of right now, he's sold the most albums of any Idol alum from last year.

Not last season. But yeah Talyor Hicks won in the season that he was involved. My wife was not happy about Chris being voted off. It is interesting that someone who did not win has done the best of all of them.

The year of Taylor Hicks was a year of a low talent pool. I think people must have thought Chris was safe, so they voted for someone else.

Good observation because I wanted jordan sparks to win so I remember her name. Funny though I cant remember anyone elses name. Oh well, on to the next season of unmemorable faces and names.

I don't remember who won last year because to be honest, I didn't really like anyone. There were some pretty poor choices. I think they are purposely letting a couple bad ones get through, since they know people watching will vote for them and add some drama or controversy to the show. It's good for ratings. As for the previous seasons, I prefer when the person who I like doesn't win- 2nd or 3rd place is better. The winner is locked into a contract and has to do Ford commercials and all that. A lot of runners- up have been much more success full than some winners. Take for example Taylor Hicks- I have heard nothing but commercials from him. I'm not sure how well he's doing. But Chris Daughtry is doing very well. He put out an album and is on the radio all the time and is selling like crazy. He actually was much better off not winning because he has more freedom to do what he wants. But staying on the show longer is helpful in gaining exposure.

Yeah, second place seems to be the slot that you want to end up with. They seem to end up with better careers (except for the first season's 2nd place--of course, fewer people were watching the show at that point).

Didn't Jordin Sparks win last year? I know, I know, I could go to americanidol.com to find out, but I'm too lazy to do that LOL, especially with being on dial up. :P I personally don't think Jordin should have won, but she was better than some of the other contestants on there. Maybe this upcoming season of American Idol will be better than last years. I guess all we can do it wait and see. :P As for the first season I wanted Kelly Clarkson to win. I thought she was deserving of the title. Though she seems rather stuck up since she won. At least this is how she comes off to me. :P

It was Jordan Sparks, the 17 year old (I believe) girl. It was between her and Blake...but she pulled out at the end.
