Do you have a motivational quote for the New Year?

Last year I made a sign to tape to my computer monitor that says, "A man cannot plow a field by turning it over in his mind." That was my motivational and inspirational quotation for 2007. That thought has served me well, but I think it's about time to update it. Does anyone have a suggestion? What's your favorite motivational phrase, something that inspires you to be your best every day, all year long?

" It matters not your outer appearance, the styling of the hair, your jewelry, your cut of cloths-It is the inner disposition, cultivate inner beauty, kind and gracious".. this would be my favorite motto and if you like it you are most welcome to use it..

Another very excellent thought. Yes, inner beauty is certainly very important, and I love the words "kind and gracious." I certainly do want to be kind and gracious every day. Thanks for your excellent suggestion.

slickcut your thought IS inspirational, it reminds me of this from Tertulian: Do you go forth (to meet them) already arrayed in the cosmetics and ornaments of prophets and apostles; drawing your whiteness from simplicity, your ruddy hue from modesty; painting your eyes with bashfulness, and your mouth with silence; implanting in your ears the words of God; fitting on your necks the yoke of Christ. Submit your head to your husbands, and you will be enough adorned. Busy your hands with spinning; keep your feet at home; and you will "please" better than (by arraying yourselves) in gold. Clothe yourselves with the silk of uprightness, the fine linen of holiness, the purple of modesty. Thus painted, you will have God as your Lover!

I really like your quote! here is one: there are two ways to get to the top of that oak tree 1. leap to the nearest branch and start climbing or 2. sit on an acorn and wait.

Well, that certainly puts it in pespective, doesn't it? I love great word pictures like that. Oh, I have sat on far too many acorns! I will purpose to remember your quote every time I look outside - our yard is full of tall oak trees! Thanks for the great response.

To choose just one quote is quite difficult for me as I live my life by example and positive motivation. Let's see. I have one that is universal and I am sure you have heard a million times. But I think it is a truly valuable phrase because we often tend to procrastinate in life not realizing that only that moment in which we stand is promised. So here it is. "Don't leave for tomorrow what you can do today." This quote has been embedding in my life from day one and because of it I dislike putting off things or simply saying "I will do it some other time." I have learned from experience both good and bad, that the only time we have is the one that we have right now. 2008 could be a very good year for you if you choose wisely, live happily and positively, and simply live your life to the fullest. Blessings for the New Year and stay positive! P.S. I had a good friend who always, and I mean always, put things in his life off. He didn't realize that the things we put off are the things that we needed to do. His life was cut short before he even had the opportunity to change his views about things.

Sometimes it's the most common ideas such as this that we overlook when they're certainly among the most important. I tend to be a procrastinator by nature, so this quote is a perfect reminder to me, something I do need to think about every day. It is very sad about your friend whose life was cut short, and I'm certain that happens to many, many people. Thank you for your thoughtful response.
