New Year's day started with a bang, or so to speak

Well it's been an interesting start to 2008 already. We got dumped with a weird snowfall last night, wet bottom and dry top, but very heavy, and slushy in many spots. Got called around 9am to go into work to shovel snow downtown, and we dragged ourselves up to go and do this. We're on the highway in horrible snow, and we see an accident on the on ramp to the express lanes. Single car into the divider. Then, we are on the highway downtown, and I see a van in the ditch, 2 other cars about 100 feet down, one with serious back end damage, the other with front end damage. Ugh, what else could go wrong? We freeze our butts off hoping that the snow would stop falling so we could get finished. I get told I may be driving the plow truck today, but it doesn't happen. Oh well, there's always next time. We finish up around 5pm, our crew has disappeared. We can't find them anywhere. We have a nice chat with the security guards in one building while wiating for our crew to come and get us. We go have dinner then get on the subway. The bus is at the stop when we leave the subway, talk about timing! Ok, so my husband has to get off the bus, he needs the little boy's room, so I stay on the bus. There's a bobcat out plowing the sidewalk beside a bus stop. The driver doesn't pay attention, plows into the back door of the bus. We're stuck for about 20 minutes waiting for the next bus to show up. It shows up, my husband is on it. Oh, the ironies! I tell him what happened and we continue on home. We made it, exhausted, cold, and ready to sleep. What a day.

My Uncle ran heavy road equipment in Southern Maryland, so when it snowed there he had to turn the catapillars into snowplows and plow the roads. I have heard some stories like yours. All nice and snuggy warm down here in central Fl. I'm sure you didn't want to hear that. Well it has snowed here, but the worst thing that happens here is that when it gets cold it doesn't snow, the bridges ice up from the terminal dampness here. When the bridges ice up, our whole world stops. We have no way of dealing with the ice. Shalom~Adoniah :)

I wish I lived away from the snow. I'm really getting tired of it.

Hello Kris, Thanks for Best Response! I hope you are keeping warm. It is actually rather nippy here now, so we are getting a taste of your weather. It finally stopped raining:) Shalom

Wow - happy new year to you! That's quite a way to start if off. It's just a good reminder to me that I am glad I live where it doesn't snow. I hope it got better for you.

It hasn't been too bad recently, but there have been more incidents with the buses and stuff.
