Warning: Major Fuming Rant Here

Okay I got a rant here!! I was just checking out my balance on my bank account...grrrrrrrrrrrr There's a deduction of $38.90 from the DisneyMovieClub which I belong to...I haven't purchased anything in ages...now all of a sudden they're charging me this money --I found out about this too late to call them at customer service and won't be able to until Monday, but did email them, if that does any good...but in my email I made it clear that I this deduction was an unauthorized one and shouldn't have been made in the first place..I got some kind of stupid automatic email reply saying that if I don't decline the main selection that they do deduct for the main selection and send it to me...What the frik are they talking about? I always reply to the main selection in time to decline the selection on time if I don't want it and I do it on-line so the decline is instantaneous rather than relying on those reply cards one can send back. Now the "charge card" I use is my ATM debit/credit card and is my checking account funds..this screws things up for my account as I have several checks for bills outstanding and if and when they go through that means bouncy bouncy bouncy ...uh, overdrawn....OH I'M SO PI$$ED OFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!! Has anyone gone through some unauthorized deduction like this...how long does it take for the jerks to correct THEIR error??

I work in a bank. report y0ur card as lost and request a new number. that will be the end of it. Anything from that point will be denied. It won't correct the past charges. You could contact your bank to see if those charges can be disputed, but report that card number as being compromised. Nothing else can come through.

Oh boy thats not good!:(My boyfriend had one go through 1 week ago for a paid site he is joined in,HE..HE!They automatically went and charged him without his concent,i emailed them to see what happened and they said "He never checked the box for".."i will pay it myself and not automatically"thingy.I went and checked it,but when i went back it was as if it was never checked after i just checked the friggin box. So,i guess he did check it but they went ahead and did it(took payment)now my boyfriend has a month ahead of unwanted "movies"hint, hint!Im happy,he will learn his lesson now to stay off those sites,HEHEHE!!!But he is kinda out of 30 some dollars,so if he cancels he cannot get his money, but try to cancel his subscription before the month ends to at least get his moneys worth,GRRRRR!I had this with the bank also, but got my money put back in after they had seen they made the error after i went and told them.I hope it works out o.k for you:) Peanutjar:) Peanutjar:)

That's exactly what it sounds like...like a movie plus the shipping and handling charges amount....thing is I always make sure I decline the main selection on time, on-line which should be instantaneous instead of sending those dumb reply cards back which could get lost in the mail Boy what a scam of the woman with the electric bill...she must have done that a lot...did anyone including you ever get your money back or at least credited for the amount she helped herself too?

Hmmm,38.90 is almost like a payment for a movie and shipping and handling,do you think that it is for a movie, but you did not verify it,kind of like a monthly movie that comes out and you have to decline it before the deadline hits or it will be deducted from your account and sent out to you automatically.Maybe it will not show in the disney account until tomorrow or that someone has mistakenly took money from your account rather than someone else(a mix up)or some jsut decided to pay them selves by using it to look like a disney payment.I dont trust any site, even disney.Too many crooks working for many popular attractions who like to get an easy grab.I remeber one time i paid(mailed)a check to pay my electricity when i was in college, the worker said to make it out to her,i never thought because she worked there and she cashed it in on her and kept it.I got a bill(outstanding bill)saying i did not pay, tried to tell them what happened and they said i did not have proof,my boyfriend at the time knew i had sent it,he saw me write the check out.The girl did not work there anymore at the time, she had been fired due to illegally taking money.I got scammed good!My fault though for righting her name on it,i should of known better:/BEEP!!

I have had that happen before, not from Disney though. Seems like turn around for that type of error really depends on the company. If they shipped you the product already you may have to ship the DVDs back before you get your refund. Otherwise it can take up to 3 business days.

I don't know how your Disney account has performed in the past, but mine is not always accurate. I have purchased the selection of the month before and the order doesn't show up immediately. It has taken a few days, same as when the item ships.

Debit card works same way as credit card with many banks. Call you bank tomorrow. Tell bank that you did not authorize it. Don't wait. They have to start processing claim. In most cases it takes 2 days. Cancel your card, ask bank for new card. This way, they are not able to charge it again. Bank will issue new card within 5 working days. On Monday contact the Club. Ask for Supervisor or Manager. Be specific. Tell them what happen. Clearly say that it was mistake on their site. Tell them that you ask for charge back on your account. Write down who you talk to. Write down what they say. Keep your evidence. Banks are working on your side, ATM cards are protected now. Question: Did you sign any agreement with Disney Movie Club?

I don't plan to call my bank tomorrow but go to the bank...I printed up a copy of the statement and the unauthorized charge on my account. And NOPE...it wouldn't just take a few days to clear this up...when I had a dispute once before, and this was major heavy duty stuff, it took them a whole month to get it settled. The dispute was when I had ordered on-line my Mac computer back in Nov of 2006...it was to be delivered to me on Nov. 29th...uh, never arrived to me..It was on record that Fed-ex had delivered it and was signed for by an "antonio"--like who? Now don't ask the aggravation I had with all that--since it was on record that the computer was delivered to me, Apple wasn't going to replace or reimburse me the money for the computer..we're talking over $2,000 for a "customized" computer too. Finally, yes I got things going with my bank to refute that I never got the computer and was to be reimbursed,,,...but it still took a month with the bank to get things going..all in all it took three whole months to get my money refunded As far as an agreement...there is always some kind of agreement..that if I don't decline the main selection the movie is sent automatically to me and yes, a deduction is made...weird thing is...I looked at my account status...nothing is showing up that I ordered anything, not even whatever this automatic selection And no...I hardly think it will take only five days to get a new card....more like a month the way my dumb bank works..and this is one of the top three banks in the world too--starts with an "H"

I kind of have my back up a wall though...I plan to also get a cash advance from my other credit card and deposit it tomorrow into my account..even if I only took two days to get this cleared up, I just can't risk having those outstanding checks bounce..not with my banks bounce fee of $35.00

I know direct debit is a good way to save time and money when it comes to bills, but somehow I always rely on mails. The thing is when postal service here screws up then I'm in big trouble. On the other hand I don't have to go through unauthorized charges on my bank account, unless I made mistakes sending payment for the whole thing and then realized I never received what I paid. In my case instead of being charged directly, I was sent repeated bills that drive me nuts since I never ordered anything from the company. So I reported them to BBB and let them deal with it. Maybe you can do this, since talking to them doesn't seem to bring results.

I feel for you, Pyewacket, since I have had this happen to me on more than one occasion, resulting in my resignation from the club that made the error. I also access my DVD and book club accounts online, and figure they should be better than I am at keeping records-not! It usually takes about a week for them to replace your funds back into your account, but with one I had to wait almost a month. I just hate it when this sort of thing happens. It has made me extra careful in the way that I keep records now.

You should have received some item to show for the charge, pyewacket, otherwise it was silly for them to deduct it from your card. That is why I only use mine to pay for my internet and telephone bill. They go wild if you once give them access to your card.

This happened to us this year. We actually had to go to the bank, complain, and the bank believed us. We filled out the paperwork and the bank told them that they would prosecute. It was an autoship order that we discontinued. they double billed us, we got the money back and then out of nowhere, just like this charge, they hit us again. the bank gave us all fees back, but we had to close down the account and open a new one. The bank was terrific, the company never admitted it was wrong it just gave the money back.

I'm actually going through that right now. I don't know what the outcome is because I haven't had the 2 hours to sit on hold to get through to the people to get it fixed. They're only opne while I'm at work and it never fails, I call durning my lunch and am on hold the entire time waiting for a rep. I've been on hold as long as 52 minutes and had to hang up because I had to get back to work. I think Monday I'm just going to have to tough it out though. Last April I cancelled a membership to something and didn't realize that they are still charging my credit card for it. Yes, that's my fault that I wasn't checking it, but my husband was taking care of the bills and he didn't realize I cancelled it. I have my cancellation number (for some reason I never threw it out) so they better take all those charges off. I don't use my debit cards for anything because I can't afford to have money come out of my account that I don't know about. We budget pretty close so there's only enough money in the account for the bills we're paying - the rest goes into savings so I have to transfer it if something extra is needed. I hope it gets taken care of for you soon!!! And hopefully the timing wont be a hassle either. I know that can get expensive.

Oh, the push-button hell? Argh! I usually just hit 0 right away to see if it will take me to an operator. If not, I hang up and try 9. Those two usually work.

Oh, isn't that aggravating when you try and talk to some representative, and being put on hold forever. Oh, and I just love it when it's one of those automated things..press 1 for this, press 2 for that, by the time it rattles off the whole menu you forgot what you called for...and it's such a trial to finally talk to a REAL person--I pretty much don't have a real choice...I use my ATM credit/debit card for everything....have to :(

Pyewacket, I think that I will match you $ for $ on this one! I am staying with my daughter for a month or so and had made arrangements for deposits and paying bills that had to be payed with paper checks before I left on the 25th of December. My rent is not due until the 3rd of the month. I had written a check for the rent amount and dated it for the 3rd. My landlady and her daughter live in the other part of the house and her daughter picked the check up from the kitchen table when my partner was at work. On the 2nd, I logged onto my bank account to see the balance before I took my daughter to the store. Good Darned Thing!!!! I had a balance of $0.11. Not only that, but there was also a charge of $20.00 for the overdraught because my account was $2.00 short of the amount needed for the rent check! What the heck is wrong here? I am being charged an overdraught charge for a check that was cashed by the bank a day earlier than the day it was written for? My check was deposited at midnight on the 3rd as it should have been, but - too late for me! I would like to say that this rant has me feeling better. But it hasn't, it has just gotten me all wound up again. I hope you get your resolution on Monday ~Donna

Well, I called the bank and told them that not only was the check not cashed by the person who it was written to, but by her daughter (and we use the same bank) and that was not noticed by the teller; but it was also not noticed that the check was dated for the 3rd and cashed on the 2nd. The woman on the phone put me on hold for about 3 minutes, came back and told me she was sorry for the inconvenience and said they would give me the $20.00 back! ~Donna

Banks don't seem to care what date you put on a check anymore. It used to be a bank couldn't clear a check before a given date, so if you put, as you did the 3rd, technically speaking they weren't suppose to put it through UNTIL the 3rd...nope, not anymore.

I've gone through that with BMG CD club, and it took a few weeks for them to get it all straightened out. I decline most of the main selections too, but they said I missed one and they sent it too me. Threw my bank account off big time. I had to send the CD back with a request for a refund. But that didn't change the fact that I still had to pay nonsufficient funds fees. I don't blame you for being beyond PI$$ED hon. Give 'em what for on Monday!

Wow!!! I'd be fuming too. Actually, I have several times when charges would pop up on my statement that I never authorized. I actually started a small claims file against a company cause they refused to put the money back. When they received the summons, they quickly cooperated AND they also paid all the O/D fines that their withdraw caused. They want their money and now but when they are at fault, they take their own sweet time getting your money back to you.

I had ordered some medication on-line a number of months ago and had problems. Another company fraudulently also charged me the same amount instantly. I went on my computer and checked my credit card account and saw the double credit right away. I called everyone I could think of and didn't get any satisfaction. I called the credit card company again and filled an official complaint. Then I called the original company to let them know that they had another company mirroring their charges. The person on the phone didn't seem to care. Told me that it couldn't possibly be on their end. He didn't even say thank you or that they would check it out. I told him that since he didn't even seem to care that one of their customers had a problem after a transaction with them, I certainly wouldn't be transacting any business with them in the future. It took two months for the credit card company to finish their investigation and credit my account.

No, these companies never want to take the blame on their end of it, do they? Thank goodness the charge against my account isn't that much, it could have been hundreds, when you think of it, but the principle of it is still the same that I'm being ripped off....sure hope it doesn't take me so long to get it resolved.

Mine is different. It wasn't the atm debit account but credit card. When I was overseas working, my hubby and I had subscribed to a cable called ORBIT.I used my credit card for the monthly charges. When our subscription was renewed my hubby and I opted to pay in cash monthly. I was back in the Phils. already but they still charged me in my credit card.I was soooooooooangry like you are.So I called a phonebanker(my bank have a 24/7 hotline) and complained about this.It was a tedious process, they told me to send a fax to my bank and show the statement charged to me and it might take at least a month to refund it to clarify Orbit company in UAE.So I didn't push through with it instead my hubby informed the orbit ofc and that was the payment for a month subscription.Thank goodness, my hubby didn't pay yet his monthly bill.Just being lucky and that resolved the issue rather than wait for ages for the charge to be refunded. I advise you call a phonebanker of your bank, it might shorten your headaches on this issue.

Aw...WHAT!? I hate when I see cases like this. This is just garbage Pye, you got ripped and now they are playing games with you. I don't know what you can do besides withdrawing from this "club" and talking to your bank about denying them access to charge you. There's got to be something that can be done about this. If you didn't get anything, didn't purchase anything, and there are no membership fees or anything... you SHOULDN'T be charged with anything.
