Do you want to be a leader?

I'm in a situation right now that I find difficult to be in. I have an idea on how to run things in an organization that could perhaps make it improve. But I'm just too afraid of taking over. I hate being criticized. It would make me cry but I have a strong feeling that my idea would work. The burden of being a leader and being blamed for the failure is the thing that keeps me from taking over. People in the organization respects me but I think I'm not that strong to become a leader. I think being a leader is natural to someone. I really wanted to become one but until now I haven't. What do you think? Is it in you or is it developed?

I think it is hard to be a leader also - BUT there is satisfaction in making things happen. I am somewhat of a born leader BUT I do feel bad when criticized. I find people like to put you in charge and then sit back and criticize sometimes. What I say is if they are just going to sit back and do nothing - don't criticize you for getting something done!!!

I think itis really up for you to decide, I believe that you were chosen simply because the people trust you. Don't worry yourself of things that you haven't been to yet, you cannot prove anything without even trying. We all commit mistakes, just try to work out on things to avoid them. Sometimes being criticized and belittled are all but just part of the responsibility you have, they even turn out into positive outputs..

I guess there are only a few that are destined to be leaders. You really can't force yourself to be one if you're not meant to be.

I think that some are "born" leaders, but that natural talent must also be developed and finely honed if he is to be an effective leader. A leader must first be able to control and discipline himself if he expects to control and discipline others. I am not a leader... though, I am also not a follower. I am more of an independent.

Me too, I always like being alone and do things by myself but there are things that need to be done by a team. I have difficulty working with other people.

My guess is that there are many more leaders out there who had the same feelings you do at some point than there are ones who didn't. What you must do is convince yourself that you should try anyway. However, you should be sure of your idea. Write it down in detail, leave it for a few days (where no one will see it of course), then come back and read it over. Make improvements, try to think about how others will see it and if it will impact any present leaders' territory and if that impact will be good or bad for those leaders. Think about how you will handle both possibilities. In short try to plan for as much as you can. Then when you are satisfied your idea is good and that you can convince others of that, then go for it. Good luck.

some people are born to lead and some are developed only..but if opportunity knocks in your door then you have to face it...surely you will learn on the way up..and you must have some idol to immitate to or just be yourself..but if you hate to be center of attraction then maybe it takes time to be one...being a leader you must be strong and ignore all those..

I know its not that easy to be a leader. Its a lot of burden on your head. Will your idea be a success and will people agree with you. Can you handle all the problems yourself... All loads of questions.... Its just that we people kind of run from hard work. Being a good leader means a good hard work and positve attitude towards things. People say that I do have the quality to be a good leader as I can make people listen to me, means I have a good control over them. I find the only problem with me is the lack of content. If you don't know about the subject then you can't talk about it. And leadership is just another name of being "responsible" .. its not that hard you just need to try. :)

You can never please everybody. When you take a job as a leader you will be the number one target of cririciziam, however if it is for the good of the company then it is worth it to step out and become the leader..If you feel that your idea's will work and if they do you will gain much respect..In order to be a leader you have to be tough, and have a thick skin in order to dig in a become the leader. There is nothing to fear but fear itself..Once you take the final step you will lose that fear and overcome the obsticules..If i thought that my idea's would work , then i would step out ,because thats the best way to over come fear...

I am currently viewed as a leader by many people I work with right now however it is never good enough for me personally. I enjoy leading and being in the lime light of things. My favorite thing to do is taking responsibilty for accomplishing important tasks.

I guess with all skills, leadership skills can also be developed. Some people are born leaders. Everywhere they go, they are able to command that respect needed of a leader to get things going. Others are born indian chiefs, where they are naturally looked up to for directions. But as with any skills, people who do not have the natural leadership skills, they can be learned and picked up with constant usage and practice. All you need to do is to constantly practice the skills you read or learn from any source, be it your peers, your mentor or even books. With enough practice, you will be able to lead just like any leader does. ;)

It is not easy to be a leader. Of course it should come naturally also to a person. There are many qualities that a leader should possesses. It demands knowledge, patience, tact, communication, leading by example and the like. Every one cannot be a leader, though some may want to be. I think if given a chance I can be a good leader and I would love to lead.

You're right. Not everyone can become a leader. Also not everyone knows this fact. Some people act like leaders but they really don't have what it takes.

If you cant take criticism by the horn then you have no business being a leader-leaders are brave people, they learn from criticism and they never take offence at criticism-secondly, leaders are made-it seems to me you are a great leader who is trying to ruin your leadership credentials by inhibiting the true leadership qualities in you-please go for it, and dont let the organization go to the dogs just because you did not actualize your leadership ideas, posterity will judge you very harshly!

There are different liders. Some are dictators, some are organizators, some are hidden liders. In some people the lidership is natural, others develop it. But actually the teamwork is a coordination between people with several skills, so the lider can change the place if the situation change.

Leader? Not really, it's only important for me to take that role when nobody else can. probably is being the leader can cause people to become busy or to ambitious, least from what I've seen. It's good and bad but I'm more than happy to be myself =) ~Joey

For my understanding, it is either to be led or to be a leader. In order not to be led, I would rather to be a leader myself. LOL Obviously, as you said being a leader is natural, but I think sometimes you can develop or make your way up. It is not easy though, but you can give it a try. But first of all, be positive. How do you think?

It is developed, i daresay. Back then, I was afraid of taking up reponsibility but it would take an ounce of courage to try it. I will say don't be afraid to try it and after that you'll see the difference.
