Dogs are great companions. They should never be abused or neglected.

Dogs are wonderful companions. They are dutiful and kind. However, I hate when I hear about dogs that have been abused, neglected, or mistreated. A good dog owner always takes good care of his dog and respects a dog's need for attention and affection.

I think that dogs make good pets if you dont have small children. But i am not by any means a dog lover. I dont think that i would ever have another dog. I had one when i was growing up, and my mom treated the thing like it was another one of her children. It's not that i hate dogs, or dont like them, I just think that they are a lot of work, and trouble. And some dogs are not so smart.. like my friends dog.. it eats things off the counter everytime they go out and forget to put it away. EVEN TOOTHPASTE from the bathroom.

I have small children and the dog is fine with them. As to not being smart, maybe your friend is partly at fault for giving the dog(who evidently eats everything) the run of the house and then forgets to put things away. JAT.
Dogs are a lot of work and imo if you don't have time to walk them at least once a day, you probably shouldn't have one.

well the dog isn't a problem rght now with their kid. I just dont trust them myself. Their dog has the run of the backyard. I don't wanna argue with you about weather dogs are safe around small children or not, if you want to have a dog with your kid that is your life and its up to you! I am just a person that is always better safe then sorry. Some dogs are less predictable then others. Some breeds are better then others. There are a LOT of variables i'm sure you'll agree.

i totally agree with u .... i had many dogs of my own n i never abused or mistreated them... but yes i wud whack them once in a while to teach them discipline.... sometimes they can really get onto ur nerves.... but i loved them much more than that..... and i know they loved n respected me back too..... there are many dogs or rather many pets which are mistreated especially here in india.... once a dog grows old or gets a disease the owner decides on discarding him.... like he is some thing without a heart or feelings.... there should be more awareness among ppl.... n this awareness can only be spread by animal lovers like us.....

I couldn't agree with you more. I hate those animal haters or abusers. Luckily there are laws that protect animals. Animals are just like human too and they have feelings too.

In sri lanka we have a lot of ray dogs in the streets. The are beaten, harresed and they all kind of trouble even with food and shelter. They really need love and care. There are some organizations that do the level possible. But not enough at all.

I totally agree.
A dog is always pleased to see you and all they want in return is a little attention and some food and water.
There is nothing better than returning home from a terrible day at the office and you open your door to a smiling, tail wagging friend.
Humans could learn a lot from dogs.

i agree entirely! dogs are excellent companions, and they're a lot better than humans in a lot of ways. for one, they're a billion times more loyal. and any time you come across a dog with behavioral problems its due to neglect or abuse.
i love dogs!
