for treating dry skin? I have tried many kinds, and some don't work, some work for a while and then stop helping. I have used Curel, Vaseline, and at least a dozen others. I have extremely dry skin, especially in the winter. Can anyone offer suggestions for lotion that has really helped?

my question is have you gone to the doctor? maybe there is a special lotion that they can suggest. normal if what i can buy over the counter does not work i ask my doctor. i have oily skin, and cant get rid of it. i went to the doctor to see what i could do, bacause i could not use all soaps. try that see if a doctor can help.

I still will vote for the Vaseline product as it is the best as far as I know, especially for the body and hand. For Vaseline product itself, there are many types for skin. Normally the lotion is for oily skin; the cream is for the dry skin and the jelly one for the extra dry skin. Obviously there are more, you may choose the latest one. If your skin is extra dry, I would suggest using the jelly one. If it doesn't work, then you can try something else. All the best!

Don't laugh...have you tried Crisco? I remember laughing the first time someone ( dermatologist!) told me that Crisco was great for super dry skin. He advised that if I was embarrassed to have it sitting in my bathroom to spoon some out and put in a pretty container! I did just that and started using it on my legs. Before I started using it, when I wore black slacks I would get flakes on the outside of them! It was so embarrassing! After using the Crisco (immediately after my shower while the pores are open and have moisture in them) for a few days I was amazed!

Try treating your dry skin from within Sillychick. Taking Vitamin E has been known to cure dry skin. You can also open the little capsules and rub it on your skin. Sesame oil has been recommended too. Rubbing Sesame oil on your dry skin works wonders and smells kinda good. The same with Coconut oil. Try to find oils with Lanolin in it. Lanolin is the only thing that your skin can truly absorb.

Anything by Eucerin is very good. I was amazed when I used their Aquaphor to treat my severely chapped lips. They were almost totally healed after one night.
